Methods for connecting the wiring harness to the body
Hi guys,
Anybody have any simple ways to connect the wiring harness to the body in the engine compartment where you cannot bolt thru the shell? The firewall is not a problem, but connecting the harness to the fenders is. I considered using epoxy to connect a 1" x 1" plastic tab to the underside of the fender out of sight and then using a cable tie to connect the harness to the tab.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

That would work and is pretty much the way I did mine. But make sure you use a good glu. I used E6000 which takes about 18 hours to get completely set, but once it is, it will never come loose. I also used very light body clamps to put my harness in as I was trying to save weight.

If you would rather us a clamp than a cable tie these studs work good from Aircraft Spruce. Kits come with the adhesive but I have put them on with other epoxy adhesives.

looks like I was on the right track. I do like the stud application also.
Is there a particular wire loom that was used back in 65 or is the generic split plastic loom the answer?

I used Liquid Nails construction adhesive on the back of the plastic cable ties. It has stayed put for 22 years.

Click studs. When applied properly they rock. We use them on rockets that go to the space station and the moon. They work pretty good...

10-32 Nutsert and an insulated Adel Clamp. Small, tidy, all that shows is the band of the clamp and the Stainless screwhead; and they are removable if necessary.

Thanks for the ideas. I ended up welding a 10-32 screw to a 1" diameter washer and using epoxy to adhere the stud plate to the underside of the fenders. Attached rubber insulated clamps to the studs with locknuts. Clean and out of the way.
