Uhhh, do you mean "die as a result of the roll over"? ... or just that you will eventually die?:confused:

This discussion has to do with the love of your wife, kids and other passengers. And that discussion ends when you buy, drive and race a 5-star crash tested 2014 hardtop. It's far safer for you and your loved ones. Anything else is just an illusion, or even delusion, of safety.

And I might add, flu shots, pre-diabetes testing, cholesterol screening, PSA's, Mammography, Colonoscopy, Pap smears and yearly dental and medical checkups, proper diet and exercise, are all an excellent start in lengthening the lives of you and your family. Because based upon statistics, in all likelihood, death will occur from one of many medical issues. Not from roll over accidents in a Cobra with zero, one or two roll bars.

Living is the leading cause of death...and we all choose how to live.

I took tons of pictures in the wrecking yard but cannot find any at the moment, they may be on an older hard drive that I no longer use. She was following me home from an autox when the wrong way guy came toward me on the freeway just as we crested a hill over a bridge. I thought for a minute about forcing him wide since I was in an F250 diesel with my trailer but did not for two reasons, she was tucked in behind the trailer and my Cobra was in the trailer. Unfortunately another car was passing her so wrong way guy tried to go between them. The bridge guard rails were pretty close to the road and he hit both of them. All I could see in the mirrors was a big cloud of dust, I pulled over after stopping about 1/4 mile down the road and ran back to the wreck. The windshield was flat but the roll bars were holding the car up. She was half over into the passenger seat and could not get out. I got a couple of guys to help me lift the car up on its side where it stayed until the wrecker got there. She got out and said she was ok but after about 10 minutes said she had a really bad headache. You know the rest. The guy going the wrong way hit a third car square and was killed in the accident. Had she been wearing a helmet I am sure she would have been home that night with a few scratches and bruises.

No question helmet or even a well padded roll bar would have made a big difference in the head trauma. Now in your opinion, had the Miata not had roll bars holding the car up, do you think she would have survived the crash?

Yes, I think she would have survived because of the design of the belt system. she hit the right side of her head on the bar as she was falling into the passenger seat after initial impact and bag deployment. She was slumped over into the passenger seat well below the cowl after the car went over. If she had a conventional race type harness I am pretty sure she would have been killed. I believe Audi and BMW have similar bar structures but both are slightly taller and possibly further rearward in the car So they might be better. Hard to tell because of the energy and dynamics in a crash. There was about a 75 foot drop down to some RR tracks and the guard rail was old fashioned pipe design about 4' tall so who knows what could have happened.
It really messed up her head, she won't even ride in an autox in the Cobra anymore and cannot tolerate any aggressive driving on my part even in the F-150. If we are on a highway with retaining walls close by for road construction she gets super nervous and closes her eyes, so guess who does all the highway driving on trips.

Do you un-belt one of the Paxtons when she drives??
