Dollar for dollar nothing can compete with a Cobra
So for the amount of money I spent on buying my Cobra there is nothing else that would fit the bill.
I wanted something that would turn heads and this thing gets more attention than a Lamborghini or Ferrari. From young to old, everyone loves this car. You can't go anywhere without people wanting to talk to you about the car.
I wanted something I could take to car shows like the Woodward Dream Cruise and Metro Cruise. This car shines in those events.
I wanted something fast, fun and exhilarating. Check, check and check. Nothing like the side pipes singing in your ears at full throttle!
I wanted something I could take to the road course a couple times a year and the drag strip once or twice a year. Cobra is perfect for both uses.
It's a convertible which is a bonus.
There is just nothing for the money that has all these things like the Cobra!
I'm so glad to be back in the family!

If you can afford one of the higher end Ferrari's or Lambos, the additional dough for a Cobra shouldn't be a problem anyway.

Didn't a Daytona go for 20+mil a few years back? Anyway; providing I had the means. I would rather have a almost complete collection of COBRA'S 260 & 289 Slabsides, 289FIA, 427 Street 427 S/C/, Daytona, GT-40 etc. Than any Prissy Dancing Pony ever made. While some of the all Euro cars are cute. I'll take American built any time! For Guts, Glory & Ultimate Power! AMERICA IS THE BEAUTIFUL!

The original AC Bristol Shelby converted into the Cobra was Brit. But the power, guts, performance and almost everything that made the AC Cobra the dream car of most of the worlds sports car lovers is American! Your welcome to any ride that turns your crank! I've been in; driven, and owned more than a few of the rides you most likely covet! For me, since I was 14; starting with csx 2058, csx 2372 and csx 3116 there has & is only one ultimate ride. The AC Cobra! I notice your new to the site. Welcome! If you've never spent any real time in a original csx or a exacting replica? You might want to consider something a little more comfortable. Like a vette, their fast & squishy soft! Or mabe, or, or ??? Good luck in your search!

Not only are they British, they are derived from an earlier Ferrari.

Except for a stable full of these amazing machines agree with you Silversmith, I would always feel guilty with them sitting too much. What made me crave for a car like these was the first time a hot rodding friend of mine stuck a 500ci Cadillac engine in a street rod and watching him trying to launch it was so much fun. You talk about smoke show!! Anyway started thinking what it would be like to have the monster power in a light car and be able to plant it.
The first magazine that wrote a story about the 427 Cobra back in the 60's and it's ability to go 0-100-0 in the 12 second range changed my life forever. I too love everything about these little terrors,oh, another exception I am a belly exhaust kind of guy.

I agree 100 percent, but if you were to ask my wife what she thought of the Cobra it wouldn't be pretty.
It all starts with "There is no hardtop and it messes up my hair."
Then it's either too hot or too cold in the cab to go anywhere.
Then it's too noisy.
I think she's just pissed because she got a snake bite on one of our first car show events and just maybe the Cobra had sensed her negativity.
In making an HONEST effort to make her happy I offered to get a GT-40 with A/C but that didn't go very far.
So the bottom line for some of us, "it's just me and the Cobra and no complaints"!

There is nothing approaching bang for the buck like a Corvette .
Cars like Corvettes and Porches are true world class GT cars that can cover many hundreds of miles a day in complete comfort in any weather. A Porsche is especially capable with all wheel drive. A new base Corvette or a Porsche Cayman could be bought for around 60k. of course a 911 or a ZO6 would be more expensive.
They create terrific down force and are stable at ultra high speeds and provide the latest safety technology to reduce risk and increase survivability in case of a accident.
A Cobra is a lot of fun.....but has a very limited use....more like a Harley.
Just my opinion of course.

I agree, a Porsche 911 twin turbo is a driving machine, tons of hp tons of tq tons of grip and as long as you change the oil the car will not break, I need one, can't afford the insurance every month... It even comes in a convertible if you want, I want...

I like coupes. The $500 oil changes are painful.... the Cayman is the best handling car I have ever driven and about the only affordable one with a mid engine.
A 100mph in my SPF is a come to jesus moment....

Full coverage (50K) for our 911 is $877 a year

I do my own oil change, about $100 every 15000 miles.
As for the OP statement I say, to have a Cobra in the collection is priceless

I have had 2 911 turbos a 993 and a 996 and they are awesome cars. Funny I'm selling my 996 turbo to buy my Cobra. I haven't been driving my 911 that much and putting the two next to each other no one would notice the 911.
I guess having a CTS-V with over 700 hp as my daily has something to do with that. LOL
You can buy a 996 turbo for $40,000 to $50,000 which is a ton of car for the Money.
You can buy mine for $54,000 and it is heavily modified.

Buddy,
I looked at your car on 6speed. If it wasn't red, I might have flown out to take a look. I'm thinking of moving away from the cobra and into a 996TT (prefer a cabriolet)
I love the cobra, but there are only so many days that are not too hot, not too cold, not raining...and my wife wont drive the cobra (I bought her a 66 mustang convertible, she barely drives that too. )
I'm thinking I'd get more use out of a 996 or 997

When you have an old car, folks think you’re a car guy. I have both a CSX 4000 Cobra and mid year Corvettes and nothing garners admiration like a Cobra. In a Corvette, nobody asks if it’s fiberglass, nobody asks if it’s a kit. People have no idea of the difference between the least expensive and most expensive Cobra replica. I must tell you that my 427 1967 Corvettes don’t come close to running with a 470 cubic inch Cobra, not even close. Love them both, though.
