I don't get miles per gallon, I get gas stations per mile!!!:LOL:

Seriously about 10 mpg city highway, and little better just highway. At $4.50 a gallon for premium here in San Diego it gets a bit costly.

8mpg city with a heavy foot on the 480rwhp 427 (dart 351w). Highway cruising is double that.

I was averaging 13.5 MPG and put the lighter springs in the distributor to let the full advance kick in sooner and the mileage went up to 15.6 MPG. I don't think the springs are the only reason the MPG went up because I had a significant road trip after I put the new springs in. I'm sure the mileage went up, but maybe not that much....

I have had four different motors in the last 20 years that have ranged from a 428 to my current 484. I have run single quad, duel quad, and have been running an older hatech f9a efi unit with 50mm TWMS for the last 10 or 12 years I have averaged 10 mpg on all of them. The only exception was when I ran a tremec TKO with a.64 5th gear for a while. I got about 12-13mpg on highway driving. I got rid of the TKO and went back to the big in and out 4speed because of the low gearing in the tremec.

With a 427 S/O I get 9-10 in town and about 12 open road cruise (mild speed no to exceed 65mph)

10mpg is sickening when it is $4.00+ a gallon for 93. I know the whole consensus of "It's a toy that you don't drive everyday so the gas doesn't bother me". At some level 10mpg bothers me especially if I was looking to drive it a out of town on the weekends or put some good seat time in a car. Does anyone have a 03/04 terminator 4V mod engine or a new Coyote mod motor to compare with for the gas mileage? At the end of the day if you drove 5000 miles a year at $4 you are looking at $2000 in gas.....even if you went to a mod motor and got 20mpg you would only have a $1000 savings. Pretty small drop in the bucket but it all adds up. If you were planning on putting some good seat time in one of these cars would you be looking at a mod motor for drive ability and long term durability anyway? Seems like you see many cars that put maybe get 1000-2000 miles on them a year.

If you want better mileage, either convert to fuel injection, or downsize your motor to a 302.

My 427 gets 10/12 mpg. My previous carbed 302 got 14/22.

Average 16mpg around town, 26-27mpg on open road... 675hp.

It's more like riding the bike than it is your 03 cobra. The weather has to be decent, and it's not always the best day to be driving on this suspension. It's not set up for comfort, not to say that it's horrible but it is a firm ride. Do to the nature of the exhaust, no matter what engine you have, you are going to smell a bit like fuel. Passengers? Again, it's like the bike so it limits you on where you are going.

I don't know that I have ever had a car that consistently got much better than 15mpg with me behind the wheel. But I'm sure that if I wanted to,I could stretch this 427 sbf to get that.

So yes, if you plan on daily driving the cobra replica, then a modern power plant like a coyote is a great idea.

My Cobra tribute has an LS6, Tremec 6 speed, C5 Corvette diff with 3:42 gears, C5 Corvette suspension. I get over 30 mpg consistently. I know that fuel mileage is not the point with these cars. But, for me it's an added bonus of my combo.

I had a rough 427 ir. After I got the fuel injection working I got about 12-13 in local and about 23-24 on pure highway at 75 in 6th with the tremec 5 speed

351 stroker with EFI drove 196.4 miles last weekend used 10.6 gal, gas station to gas station got 18.5mpg.:)
