fuel mileage
what kind of fuel mileage are you guy getting mine has a 351-c with a supercharger and im only getting around 8 in town is that normal or is that bad none of my other cars are that bad.:JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE
normal... I get 8-9 around town, maybe 12 doing steady-state cruising on the freeway.
I do eight, if I behave! :D
Windsor based 410 ci with Holley four barrel and Richmond 5-speed: 14 MPG consistently with the majority of that on open roads.
i've been doing some AFR data logging and am up to 15mpg on the freeway and 10-11 mpg around town and i've noticed that the hood scoop is not conducive to good mpg numbers so mine is completely blocked off, it seems there is a vacuuming effect at freeway speeds 60-75mph that causes the AFR's to go way rich, food for thought?….roush 427R motor single plane intake, pro-system custom built carb flows 996cfm, tko600rr trans, stock rear end gears...
well that makes me happy at least i'm on average with mileage I was going to swap out for a Windsor motor I thought it was the Cleveland Yah if I don't behave I get like 2 miles to the gallon he he
Around town get 10mpg, but highway cruising 18-20mpg. GT40 with Roush 427SR, 3.77 diff and .64 top gear. Maybe I've got an aerodynamic advantage over you Cobra guys? Leaned carb out a lot with A/F meter. Off the shelf carbs have rich idle restrictors. You're pretty much on the idle circuit under 2000 rpm.
yup gt 40's are slippery, i have the .82 trans 2700-3000rpm for cruise, lots of swirling air under the hood of a cobra may be a shrouded air cleaner would help...
427 side-oiler with Holley 750 carb. 10 - 11 mpg on mostly back roads with a mix of spirited driving. Just did a 175 mile ride with other Cobras so not as much spirited driving. Pleasantly surprised I got 14.7. That said, it really doesn't matter...
Backdraft with a 302 - 340HP, got 22 mpg averaging 75 mph from St. Louis to Cincinnati when I bought the car. Shocked me, it is the most fuel effiecent car we have. My Cobra econo car.
ERA with stroked FE (464 cu in), 525HP , Richmond 5 spd, 2.88 rear: about 10 mpg over first 5000 miles, mostly around town. Got 12 mpg once on innerstate and celebrated big time, but like above comment, not concerned about it very much!
I'm not to worried I just wanted to be sure I couldn't make it better and that the engine wasn't just waiting fuel I've had a few cleavlands and never had any real luck with them but I've been fairly happy with this one so far.;)
8 litres per 100 Km (35 mpg ) on the highway and 20 -25 mpg city driving
5.4 litre Ford modular injected. |
Backdraft with stroked Keith Craft SBF 408, 515HP, 3.46 rear: about 11mpg avg.
Kevin..... |
427W in a Dart block, TKO with .64 5th, and 3.55 rear gears - 515hp on a chassis dyno last year. I get about 20 on a mountain drive, with speed averaging 60-70mph. On city streets it's less than that, because I can't keep my foot out of it. But I think it's somewhere around 12'ish.
If you're only getting 6-8mpg, either you drive like a mad man, or you need a little tuning adjustment. |
8 city and 24 highway
Old Chevy 350 = 13 mpg (US) or 18 l/100km for 1/2 town 1/2 freeway over long period.
New Chevy 383 = 9.4 mpg (US) or 25l/100km - still running in with air/fuel ratios and timing way out, currently in the process of changing to EFI. |
Gas milage
A work in progress...
428 fe with 48ida Webers 6mpg around town 3.50 rear tko600 working on it to get at least 10 around town Jon |
Chevy 383/T56/3.90 gears
12 MPG around town/22-24 highway |
MPG or smile per mile
Mike Hodge has a B&B with a KC 408 530 hp Quick Fuel carb 3.55 gears. He get 13 -14 mpg. He started at 6.7 mpg and Coach tuned the carb to get the 13 plus mpg. Motor had been dyno'ed but we found out they don't tune the carb for cruising etc. Only wide open throttle.
I have a 302 stroked to 354, 402 rwhp, fuel injected 3.55 gears. I get 20 -22 mpg Dwight |
