BDR RT3 GT body- yes or no?

Greetings, new guy to site. Are you a fan of the new BDR RT3 GT body? It has cut outs in the front and rear fenders.

Thanks,

NewYorkGuy

No......

Only helps the tire to toss trash on the body....

I think that if you are hardcore about racing, you need to just step in to the td, maybe the rtx.

While I think they look cool and are probably functional, I just don't think they fit in with the cobra lines.

The cars we have completed with the GT body have gotten rave reviews at events we have taken them to, not classic car shows or cruise nights, but rather enthusiast gatherings with more modern performance cars from Italy, Germany, etc. Obviously not a traditional look by any means.

The cutouts are functional at the track for certain. That is where the concept evolved from.

On the street there is some splatter to content with if you drive the car through any wet conditions. We have not seen any damage from objects kicking up though. There is a screen installed in the openings to reduce any chance of this.

This forum leans to the classic side which I appreciate. The Backdraft in general is a more modern leaning interpretation so if that suites you, don't be afraid to go with it.

But do it soon and save yourself the extra $4,000.

Mr. Cashburn, what is the screen made of? Alum mesh or plastic screen? I like the GT body. I come from the world of modified Hondas and BMWs and now that I am over 40, I am back to American muscle.

Cashburn 05-07-2014 05:15 PM

It is an alum mesh. We add it here so you can actually select the style you prefer.

BTW as you know the BDR is a nice blend of American Muscle and BMW suspension/brakes.

I like the idea but if I was ordering a new car it would not have these cutouts. That's the nice thing about BDR. You can get what you like.

Looks great on a track car. wouldn't want it on a street cruiser.

I'm one of those traditionalists, but I also went with a polished aluminum body for something unique. If I'm buying a BDR, then I'm definitely going with some unique body and/or color combo. And this BDR RT3 GT (that's a mouthful) would fill or fit the bill for me. I like it. For me, it's not too far removed from an authentic interpretation of the original, but also unique.

I like it too. Very cool!

I think the white one might have changed my mind.

I'm in total agreement... ^

I like 'em too. :D

When electric engines become all the rage, I'll take one in black, grey carbon stripes, and lime green highlights thanks.

Looks cool, but I like traditional better myself.
