Big block or small block what's in your Cobra
Jamo has given me the green light to redo this poll. Just curious what the breakdown will be doesn't matter if it's a Chevy or Ford.
I have a 351W stroked to 392 making 450 fwhp, it's about 100hp less than I want!

I have a 302 stroked to 354 that makes 402 rwhp. It's fuel injected, Keith Craft Brodix heads, Victor 5.0 intake (80 mm) etc.
I think you can get 50 - 75 more out of your motor with good heads, cam, intake and matched carb. Quick Fuel is the carb to look at.
Look at your headers / side pipes. Do the math and see if you need to make changes there. Maybe Classic Chamber Cobra packs. Longer and larger inside diameter.

side note
I have two buddies with 427's and one 428.
All three motors are Keith Craft motors, 600 plus hp at the flywheel.
First the 428 stroked to 461, 601 hp and 619 tq.
The next is Ponds block 427 stroked to 482, 630 hp and more torque.
Last is a 65 427 s.o. stroked to 487, 618 hp and 632 tq.
All in Cobras. I have driven them on the street. They all spin up like chain saws. Nothing on the street has passed them, when tested 
I read a lot about big blocks are slower to rev up but in my experience (I'm no expert) they spin up fast.
Now my small block spins up fast but on the street I don't think you can tell the differences.
Oh by the way, I can hang with them at least thru the 1/8. The few times we've played I've done good. But I'm a couple of hundred pounds lighter.
All four car are monsters.
If you have the money a big block is the way to go, but a small block can be just as fast on the STREET.
Everybody expects a big block in a Cobra. So at the car shows and cruises you get more approval.
Thru the years I have had a few guys at the red light ask about the big block thing and act disappointed when I tell them it's a small block. Then I take off and wait for them at the next light. Different response the second time.
Small block or big block, it don't matter, both are fun.

I understand that. You would not put a BB in a 289 car. I believe the OP wants to know what engine people are putting into a 427 body. |

buddyg, you may want to edit your lead in post to include SBC and BBC as voters IF that is your intent. When you say "We are not doing Chevy vs Ford per Jamos request", that may be interpreted to mean the chevy guys can't vote.
