Default Register California car in Texas, the reverse

After a move to the Tyler, Texas area, I'm about to go through the reverse of most issues presented here on the forum. I have a California registered Backdraft (as a SPCN, year 0000 on title). The car had an original Virginia title and it was an easy conversion in Ca. with no issues. Maybe I was lucky but there have been no issues for years.

I have just re-registered our two street cars here in Texas and the only surprise was the need for a safety inspection and windshield sticker before they would process paperwork and issue new plates. No big deal really and only took a few minutes at a local garage. No emissions checks in this county, just lights, horn, wipers, tread depth, stuff like that.

I assume I'll do the same and have the Backdraft inspected and take that paperwork in to get on with the re-registration in Texas. The insurance on the car here says 1965 Cobra at the recommendation of the local agent.

Any reason this will not go smoothly or is there something I might be missing or need to know or do before I start this process?

Really appreciate the help or encouragement!!

All you need is title , ins card, drivers lic., what they call a green card from the inspection and a check.

What AJ said. Welcome to East Texas. I bounce between Carthage and Houston weekly.

Be sure your insurance has it listed as a '65 Cobra as well. Don't give them any reason to get confused. Some parts of the state are easier than others.
