New name for "Replicas"
Following on from all the many controversial threads regarding the "Replica" issue I would like to see a new name for any "copy" of a Cobra that is not an exact replica of the originals.
What I would like to see is as many of us as possible agreeing on a new term for those of us whose cars are not true replicas to use. I am starting a list on here and once enough suggestions have been made I will create a /Pol with those suggestions and we can vote - once the numbers are in I suggest we all start using the most popular name where relevant in all our threads or conversation with the public and possibly create relevant badging so it might become common usage and mean something to the public and potential buyers. My Suggestions so far are: Cobra Tipo Cobra Tipo V8 (+Engine Capacity) Cobra Type Cobra Evolution Cobra Evoque Cobra Inspiration Cobra Inspired Cobra Xerox ;) Kit Cobra Feel free to add names to the list |

I notice you have a Shamrock. I understand there are only nine in the U.S. Where are you located? Dwight |
Reproduction
I've always felt "reproduction" was a more appropriate and more definitive term. When I hear "replica", I think back to when you would take a Volkswagen Beetle, remove the body, and replace it with an older Mercedes aftermarket body built just for that purpose.
You don't hear the term "replica" used when people build a '60s Mustang or Camaro using essentially all aftermarket body panels, frames, suspensions, interiors, etc. They are all referred to as "reproduction" pieces. Even if they are steel instead of fiberglass, it's a remake of the original. I don't think you will see the term "replica" used on the Dynacorn website where they sell all of these pieces for those vehicles, just "reproduction". |
..........this thread is un-real.;)

Retro Roadster 289 Retro Roadster 427 Shorthand ... RR289 RR427 ret·ro adjective 1. imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past. "retro 60s fashions" road·ster noun 1. an open-top automobile with two seats. You can even replace Retro Roadster with Retro Replica or Retro Reproduction, they all work imo. |

Errr, I'll go with "replica," I think. ;)
From dictionary.com... rep·li·ca/ˈrɛplɪkə/ Show Spelled [rep-li-kuh] Show IPA noun 1. a copy or reproduction of a work of art produced by the maker of the original or under his or her supervision. 2. any close or exact copy or reproduction. Origin: 1815–25; < Italian: reply, repetition, derivative of replicare to repeat < Late Latin replicāre to reply Synonyms 2. duplicate, facsimile; imitation. When I build mine, it will be as close as possible to the original without being an original, which will probably always be beyond my reach financially. Cars that look vaguely like Cobras if you squint would better be known as "lookalikes," in my humble opinion. Or perhaps "evocations." Just my very humble opinions. ;) Paul :) |

Kit Cobra
All the other terms have come about in the past 10 or so years as a result of too many 'sensitive' folks getting involved in this hobby who have some hang-up (feelings) that because they spent $XXX,XXX on their dream, it is too good to be called a Kit Cobra. I, for one, am comfortable with whatever people want to call it (or me), and I'm not such a priss that I need some high-falutin euphamism for the car. |
I have used the term: "modern reproduction as true to the original as possible".

Snake2998,
After you get the entire world to use the word you prefer for a Cobra replica, how about getting the world to settle on a single word for ladies' breasts. |
