Gorgeous car! I've seen a few with the undercar exhaust. SPF, so far has done a great job with it.

Got a picture of the car, I would like to see what it looks like. The problem with dysfunctional sidepipes is you're spending $$ to hang dead weight on the car, what do those dummy SS pipes weigh? Nothing wrong with underneath exhaust, get it out of your head that it makes it look "more original", these cars came both ways back in the 60's.

I like sidepipes but I have a 66 Corvette with a pieced together old aluminum head L88 with 12:1 compression, old .600 lift solid cam, and 2-1/2 inch sidepipes. I wouldn't even think of firing the think up in my neighborhood until after 9:00 in the morning. When I decided to build my Cobra (replica) I decided not only that it was the street versions that I admired the most, but I didn't need another window rattling, car alarm sounding, neighborhood arosing car. But, I still have my fix for that when I like, and I sure can't second guess those that are fans of the S/C and Competition Cobras. Build what you want.

What could be more clear than this statement,in the end we have to live with our creations. Nothing about our car needs to be changed (other than polishing the intake and water pump,great winter project) it only took near 10 yrs had fun the whole time.

Note that SPF does the undercar with stainless pipes and puts "stand-off" heat shields between the mufflers and the floors with a .5" air gap to reduce heat transfer.

(I do appreciate and respect the effort of others to tame the snake. Ol' Shelby started with a street car after all. We all buy these things with different goals in mind.

If I had a child with special needs, I would also think of him/her first, like the OP does. If it would be easier, I would get a different car, perhaps more user friendly. If I had to have a Cobra, I would definitely get a street configuration, or at the very least, underbody pipes.

The car was/is/always will be a hybrid, a Frankenstein of sorts. Whatever you do to it, pretty much goes...)
