Watch out BDR, SPF, FFR, there is a new Cobra-Corvette on the market!

$30,000 bargain!

For $30,000, Hey Little Co-Brah!

OnyxRider 06-03-2014 04:09 PM

I think the writer was speaking to Evan.

"There are in existence more fake Cobras than real ones."

itstock 06-03-2014 04:22 PM

It's a purpose built car with a body that looks like a Cobra. So it's pretty much the same as many of those "BDR, SPF, FFR's".

A bit more detail would be nice, but it looks like high quality parts were used. For $20,000, you would probably get a better deal than a lot of the crap that is out there.

It's $30k, a one-off garage build, and he's willing to discuss a trade - the BDRs, SPFs and FFRs have nothing to worry about. Look where the dry-sump reservoir and battery are located, you don't see that in the "polished" pic. Wait, that's the hill-climb config, drive it to the hill, pop the body off and let 'er rip!

NewYorkGuy 06-03-2014 04:57 PM

Seller asking $30K. U offer $15K CASH. Strike a deal between $20-22K.

Truth be told, this cobra-vette builder has the right approach and budget sense. This hot rod is based off a 60 yr old car and technology. Anyone spending more than $50K for a hot rod cobra is wasting their money.

Alot of ERA, SPF, KMP and CSX owners are kicking themselves right now based upon your statement.

And I'm sure all those folks on the streets and highways that will literally almost lose control of their car in order to get a closer look, think we wasted our money too. :)

At least his opinions are consistent with his avatar pic...flaky and full of holes. :p

true
this cobra-vette hot rod is $20K short of bling and go fast parts.

Where we differ is our approach to this hobby. The builder sees the hot rod as a hot rod shaped like a Cobra. U see your hot rod as a real cobra.

AL427SBF 06-03-2014 06:34 PM

Go for it nyg, you're in the market right?

I've been wondering if NYG is a Jalopnik writer, this guy:

http://diehipster.files.wordpress.co...pg?w=300&h=273

or both??? He seems so hipster and Brooklyn-like.

lots of people spend big $$$ on nostalgia and a lot of cobra makers know how to pour the kool aid.

people are looking at your hot rods shaped like cobras because there are less than a 1000 real Cobras. It's a rare sight like Bigfoot.

The builder of this cobra-vette is using parts (better parts) than real Cobras and he is spending less.

I don't see the wisdom of spending $70K-$200K+++ on a hot rod that is supposed to drive and feel like a 60 yr old car.

I don't see the wisdom is living where you live (NY or LA that is)... but seemingly many others live there too... They must know something I don't.

Do you get the analogy? No!

I'll spell it out for you... COBRA - Its a way of life... we must know something you don't...

So with that wisdom, here's some more - Spend up and enjoy ;)

... and then spend as much time under the car as you do in it.;) If you don't get it, you don't get it... and that's ok.

rodneym 06-03-2014 08:10 PM

I'm having a hard time believing this NYG is real.
It's got to be Jamo in disguise.
Yup. Can't be real.

Funny, you were full of the opposite wisdom not that long ago

Buy the best, either a Kirkham or CSX. Spend $100K for roller, $35K for engine, add $10K for bling parts. Only then, you will either be a Cobra guy or not.

The simple fact of the matter, it's because you don't have the money. I don't see the wisdom in building a 12,000 SF mansion in my neighborhood, no one needs that kind of space. $10MM, $15MM, $20MM.....But people with that kind of money do.

And yes, I do have a real Cobra. Just like the preponderance of us here on CC do. We just don't have Shelby Cobra's. But they're real. I'm caressing it right now.

It's all about perspective.

Are you drawing that conclusion based on NYG's avatar? %/

My perspective, even negative attention is better than no attention at all.
