bought a diamond in the rough
Hey guys new owner here. Recently bought a kit not sure what manufacturer. At a closer look you can tell the car was built by someone who was either rushed or didn't put a whole lot of heart into the full picture. I look at all of these factory 5's and others and I'm missing some commodities for example. Looking through the front grill is all open to the wheel wells. The truck is completely open w just an old gas tank, there is no gas cap on the fender. Just a few things that really tick me off that I'd like to get added. I'm located in lafayette louisiana. Do any of you gurus know of somewhere in my area that can flip my doll around. Excluding engine. tranny. Paint. All that's good

Do you know who manufactured it in the beginning? Depending on who built it, it might be possible to buy the inner panels. If it's a totally home built car, you're looking at fabing the panels yourself.

It was a home built car but not sure who made the kit either
There are no tags or emblems anywhere stating who made the actual kit. Another thing. If it would help any of you I can send pictures to your email or something maybe some of you could figure out who manufactured the kit. I can't figure out how to post pics on here |

thanks but location might be an issue for me. I'd rather bring it to someone physically and get then to do the work rather than ordering parts. Because I have no idea how different these kits are and I might end up with things that won't match in or fit |

I also emailed factory five today. Asking if they do any restoration work on completed kits. I really just want that missing link finished up on here. That craftsmanship that these big companies offer. I can already tell I'd be a buyer not a builder lol. Mostly because I want it to look better than I could ever do myslef

You can upload photo's to your gallery. That's the easiest way for everyone to see them. That's probably your best shot at finding out more info on your particular car. Then go from there with looking for parts.

I see that you have an Album but no pictures in it. Upload some pictures and then you can link them to appear in your posts. Normally I think the best size to upload is around 90 to 130 MB. That will show good detail and not take a lot of space. If you have trouble figuring out how to do this there are plenty of members who will be happy to help you.

Pictures of the car, engine compartment, frame rails, firewall, interior, trunk area would go a long way to identifying what you purchased. |

No gas cap on the fender.
Somehow, I would bet this is either a CMC or Streetbeast Cobra. The inner fenderwells were put together using pieces you cut out from another section of the body. The trunk was probably removed because it was molded so far off they had to cut it out to make the body straight.
Just a guess, but with some digging on here and the internet, these were pretty common problems. Putting a CMC or Streetbeast together was not an easy task as the instructions were vague and the fabrication skills required in many cases were way beyond the average garage mechanic.

The process is still going. It's never been registered or issued a Vin. As to my knowledge it was bought in 2005 and was most likely completed at that time too |

Firewall and outside door handles are very distinctive, vaguely familiar but can't put my finger on it this evening.
Need to see pictures of the front and rear suspension/frame

Don't spend much more on it until you are sure you can title/register it in your state. That can be a real challenge in some states.
