Maybe it's just a weird angle, but those headers look strange with the way they exit. Yes, minor point on an otherwise beautiful car.

Hmm, the driver side looks OK, but the passenger side looks like it is on an angle.

I saw this Cobra when it was for sale be an independent dealer in Anaheim/Orange almost three years ago.
I'm a fan of CF. Went back and forth on price and was looking for a deal but ...no dice. The seller said it was a rare 'Terlingua Edition'. After telling him there's no such thing, he showed me the build sheet which said 'Terlingua Stripe', see? LOL.
Anyways, I hope the owner is happy. Definitely needs those Terlingua badge stickers.

Very clean car, but, I'm amazed that Shelby could let that car leave the factory with that ridiculously ill fitting passenger side sidepipes. They stick out like a sore thumb !!!

Hey Rodney,
Don't know if this is one of them or not but I believe Bill Neale and Shelby were going to do 10 'Terlingua Edition' Cobras and only a few were built. I know Bill Neale did have one of them.

I saw the first completed car and the 2nd car maybe halfway finished in March of 1998. I think one car was headed to the Peterson Museum, and it was built out of sequence as the last number of the group. I have no idea where the cars are today or their owners.

Gary,
IIRC, they were set to do 10 but only did one [confirmed in Registry, pg 713]. Also, that was years and years before this build.
Cobra427,
HST did complete cars but supposedly for out of country delivery only. Don't recall about this one. There's quite a bit of what us hobbyists would call 'strange dealings' with some CSXs, particularly HSTs. Like warehouses with built and unbuilt cars, offers of unsold rollers, 'deals' from quasi private parties (investors), etc. You know, regular stuff around this hobby.

Sounds like he needs to step the idle speed up a tad.

Mine was one of the 7 carbon fiber cars. All were built by HST. HST's complete cars were all suffixed with LA (Latin America, e.g. mine was CSX4005LA) and were built specifically for some customers in Mexico City. Two of that batch were CF cars.

There was one at the Shelby Legacy Bank show this July so maybe that was the 1st one but I thought they built 3 of them in total. Next time I see Bill Neale I'll ask him.........

Tony,
I heard that HST finished the complete CF 'LA' cars. Correct?
This one appears to be completed by HST but for the domestic market.

Yes i understand all of the la cars were built and sold as complete cars. Non la HST cars went through the regular Shelby vegas trip. Someone here said they inspected my car in San Diego before it was shipped to the Mexico owner bu t I don't think it went to vegas for final.
I was told by Amy that the la cars were a special deal by HST for a group of Mexican owners that wanted a group buy and that HST agreed to build them as a group without affecting the existing schedule thus the early numbers with the la suffix

Tony,
I know that they should have been only rollers if for the US.
That was sort of my cryptic post from before.
'Should have been'

I think there is some blending of the la cars and the cf cars since they all happened about the same time. There is some overlap but they are not the same set. That is there are some domestic cf cars that were not la cars. I also think There was also at least one la car that was domesticated on mso. Again I think that owner is here. This are old brain cells though and might not have been fixed by t he standard ecc codes

One of the things I was never sure of was just how much was cf. It was painted and the cf material was laid I aid in a regular fiberglass epoxy. Not the dry baked hard shell. I saw that Becker had a cf car but only claimed the exposed parts of the doors hood and trunk were cf. I was told the while body was but after I saw that I had doubts. Mae someone who knows can comment. I do know that mine survived some major hail that would have had star checks on regular fiberglass

Tony,
I don't have the exact numbers but the CF roller price was smack dab in the middle of glass and ally.
And for a while you could order as an option (or acquire from stock?) a CSX glass with CF hood/trunk/doors. Don't know if that was leftover from HST or just a new twist. I don't believe they offer it any more.
It's like detective work around here
