Thanks Jeff,
I have done a few of these now and it's always nice to step back after the job and feel good about the work or product. The bigger satisfaction for me is knowing the customer is happy with the work. |
I don't have metal bending and cutting equipment. I tried to fab some small pieces in the past, and wasn't satisfied with the results. cobrakiwi is able to produce the high level of finished product that I want. He at least left me the final fitting and riveting, but I had to twist his arm, LOL! That battery tray mock up is simple and clean. I like it!
A few posts back in this thread show the fresh air tube hangers he fabbed. When he discovered I had used zip ties to hold the air tubes in place, he was polite in the way he told me my approach was sub-standard!! :JEKYLHYDE David |
Enjoyed your visit the other day, now you have your ride home time to get to work and bolt every thing back together.
Your new engine sounds incredible by the way, it should have no problem pushing the HiTech down the road, that's for sure! |

Here is a follow up on a couple of parts we supplied for David's HiTech,
David takes great pride in is workmanship, and boy does it show! These slim line batteries fit behind the seat with room to spare. New Dash all covered and looking great with the gauges, lights, switches etc installed. |

Thanks Buzz.
We installed a new set of better flowing mufflers so the new engine can breath. The old rubber engine mounts had collapsed enough to the point of the pipes hitting the body so we made up a set of engine mounts as well. |

David and his wife invited me to there house for the start up of his new engine.
After we finished up a couple of small items on the hit list it was time to start her up. Wow comes to mind, the engine lit off with out a problem, set the timing, jump in and off for a ride. David handed the wheel off to me at some point, the engine felt strong and wanted to go. Off course we held it back and played safe, what a great weekend! Thank you both for the hospitality. |
wow! she's beautiful.

Thanks for the great comments,
David really has done a great job on this project. We are having fun coming up with new ideas and trying some proven ideas to try and sort out a few issues that pop up with building and owning one of these cars. Here is a nice part I made up for the engine fuel system, this fuel log is insulated inside the outer tube, then David powder coated it gray. |

I made this stainless oil pan girdle up for the big 496 as there where a few small oil leaks, Job well done on the install David.
The following is from David. My original iron block had an Aviaid pan on it for 20 years. Multiple rebuilds on that block, and multiple new gaskets. Always leaked. New Pond aluminum block with new Aviaid pan. There were multiple leaks around the pan, a bit more leaking occurred at the rear of pan. The photos taken today show the oil pan after driving about 180 miles since the installation of the girdle. 130 of those miles were in Arkansas while cruising through the Ozark Mountains last week. There were quite a few runs above 6,000 rpm. There is zero indication of oil leaking anywhere around the pan. The frame of my car has never been this oil-free. Prior to installing the girdle, a 20 mile drive would leave multiple oil drips on the frame. I feel the Aviaid pan's flange isn't sufficiently rigid to provide uniform clamping of the pan, 2 gaskets and 1 windage tray. |
