Default Title a Cobra replica in Delaware

Hi, This post will serve as an introduction and with my question.

I just purchased a Unique 289fia from a gentleman from Massechusetts,

that was titled as a 1964 Ford replica. I need to title and tag the car in Delaware

now, and as every state is different, are there any Delaware members here who

have jumped through all of the hoops? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I did a search, and with my almost nonexistent computer search skills, I read

all that I could find on this site the Delaware motor vehicle site, and DMV .org.

I have visited this site for years, but did not want to join until I fulfilled my dream

of owning a Cobra. Thanks for any advice.

Ken

Update: Just got back from motor vehicle and now have a Delaware title and tagged car.

Because the car had an out of state title , it turned out to be a non-event. The thing that was

worrying me was that Del. bases its tax on NADA values,or dealer invoice, not the bill of sale.

I hate to think of the tax that they would claim I would owe on a genuine 289fia!

Hi NorDel Garage, When I registered my ERA I had a valid Connecticut Title in hand. My car is registered as a 1996 Replica, the year of the build. My concern was the emissions test and the loud sidepipes. My concerns were for naught. Because of the age, there was no emissions test, they didn't say anything about the pipes. Lights, horn, wipers and brakes were the only tests. BTW, when I pulled up to the inspection lane, all the Inspectors in the building came over to ogle and ask a million questions. As for the Tax, I had the seller type up a purchase receipt to be presented to the DMV Associate, there is no NADA price for Replicas. She took the document, I paid the tax, put the plates on and drove home with a big smile.

NorDel,

I have driven my replica here in Delaware for 6+ years. As you have already seen it is no big deal to get the title done and get your tags. The DMV people here really are car people and do what they can to get you on down the road.

I have sent you a PM on another matter.
