Default Need Help Finding Wheel

I need a front wheel for my Cobra to replace this one that was damaged by my mechanic (please see photo)

Below is all the info I have found:

1. GT/40 style
2. Size: 15"x8" with 4" back spacing
3. Originally manufactured by PS Vintage Wheels
4. This wheel was on the car for the past 12 years -- possibly longer

I have checked with PS Vintage Wheels -- and right now the wheel is not in production.

Thanks in advance for your help and info. Sincerely, David

What was damaged? I can see a black mark on the wheel. Was it the lip?

Ditto, what I see can easily be repaired by a quality rim repair shop

Yes, the lip was cracked. My mechanic had the wheel repaired -- welded by a guy who said he could do a quality job. Unfortunately, the repair was poorly done and now the rim is wavy and very noticeable. I have sent the wheel to other repair shops -- these other repair places all refuse to work on it -- saying they cannot improve the quality of the rim since it has already been welded -- so I was hoping to find a replacement.

If anyone knows of a professional rim repair shop -- one who you feel would take on the job and do a quality repair -- PLEASE let me know and I will contact them. Again, thanks in advance -- David

I am in Southern California -- but my mechanic has sent the wheel to other repair places -- one was on the East Coast -- and the companies would not touch "redoing" the repair. I am not as concerned about shipping the wheel as the quality of the repair -- being able to get it repaired so the initial damage and the "bad repair" is gone. Thanks again.

I'll ask again WHERE are you located. Responding with "Southern California" does not help you find a qualified source to get your PS Engineering 5 lug rim repaired.

As for your mechanic stating he sent it out, honestly, I'd be doing it myself to know exactly who or where the rim was being shipped off to (if at all).

MrMustang -- thanks for your reply.

Just so you know, my mechanic's business insurance is paying to repair my car -- and he is coordinating the work. The damage estimate totals over $7000.

I have a friend in need of a single Knock Off for this type of wheel. He loaned one to a fellow Cobra Owner along with a set of Visors and the guy sold the car and let these items go with the car and ignors any request for restitution. Who needs friends liike this?

That's a "wine-glass" halibrand. They were expensive to make. I've got them
on my car and wish I'd bought a spare!

Mike -- thanks for the info

I did not know specifically about the "wine-glass" style halibrand -- obviously it is not the most common design.

Do you have any idea how long ago the wheel was made? I appreciate any additional info you can provide.

Thanks -- David

Check GT40s.com website under Classified. Someone is selling a set of those wheels currently. Or PM me and I will send you his phone number, he is a friend of mine.

David

Mine are circa '97 vintage. Don't know when PS stopped doing that design.
Can't believe Paul's group couldn't fix that wheel, knowing that they're the
original mfgr.

There's a place over here in Australia that still makes them in a bolt-on design.
