Info needed on CSX3491
Hi Guys,
Can someone tell me what CSX3491 is suppose to be? I seen a cobra with that vin# on it with the matching pink slip. Is it a continuation car or something odd??
Thank in advance.

Don't see anything in the Registry other than the number listed in the number index as "Bill Pierre Ford, Seattle, WA".
Pics would help. Maybe someone else can shed more light on it

Where did you see it? The last chassis built by AC Cars was 3360. As far as I know, there were no CSX34XX chassis made.

I know and my mistake, I guess.
I was just looking for numbers and saw 3491 listed in the Registry on page 1587 and jumped too soon. A dealer listing I guess. My bad.

No original Cobra wears that chassis number. Could be someone's homemade serial number.

Yep, sounds like an "air car".

It shouldn't be a continuation car as only the originals used the 3XXX numbers. Also the so called continuation cars that they first built are illegal in California. Sounds as if someone has built one and is trying to pass it off as an original. Was the body aluminum or fiberglass?
Ron

Thanks for your replies guys.
It's a fiberglass body the car is in Ontario Canada. I was just wondering about the vin# I thought it was a continuation car because of the vin#.
How can someone get a vin# like that? You can't just walk in and register a car with any vin you choose, Well at least in Canada you can't.
Thanks

If you are able to look at it again, get pics of the Shelby VIN tag in the engine compartment on the passenger side and look for a number stamped on top the passenger side shock tower / frame. Any other pics would help too.

Sounds like CCX3491
Which would be really CCX3-3491
I always was accused of a CSX number when I had my old car.
Might be a CCX.

What is the difference between a CCX and CSX?

Years ago you could request a number if you wanted to and if someone requested a number that was to high such as csx3491 , I don't think they would be trying to make a air car. They might of just got caught up in the trying to look as close to original as possible, just like the black and yellow license plate thing. As time has passed and the advent of so much information available, probably would not happen today.

Where in Ontario is the car located? I track many of the Canadian market Cobras for sale, but haven't come across one purporting to be CSX3491 or CCX3-3491. Do you have a link to a "for sale" listing?

None of the 1990/2K built CSX3K "Continuation series" cars were built with a fiberglass body. Those started the CSX4000 series cars, which were a mix of fiberglass and aluminum bodies.
This car is not an original or continuation series Shelby, so what you have on your hands is a fiberglass kit car with a reproduction Shelby tag installed on it, with a 100% made up serial number. Most likely done before the CSX3K "Continuation series" cars were ever produced. Tread lightly if the car is titled with that number, as you may be opening a can of worms that will be very costly to attempt to close legally.

Ok thanks for the info. I did see the ownership, insurance pink slip and the vin tag on the car and they all said CSX3491. The owner said that it's not a real one but it does have a interesting vin #.
