Don't the steel ends on the cord rub or vibrate against the paint?

Here is what I did, more 3020
Again, no two are the same....... Most do not even know about the cord.
Painted over metal as well................

The are even slightly rolled, so they fit the body contour  . Yes, these coils rub on the paint, for (against) that I have two round dots 1.5 inch clear masking film on the contact spots. No harm to the paint job.

These pictures are self explaining...they have that shape for a reason.
Over the years the owners/mechanics put them on the wrong way - and it became fashion. Like baseball caps wearing backwards or sideways. There was a reason for that shield but it got lost...

Well, they used all kinds...CSX 2431
CSX 2557
Shorted standoffs, still bolts not nuts...
As I said they used all kinds -- like on this 1.8 million car....

And modest...............
All kinds were used but acorns -- nope.
They did put them in backwards with the bolt end out. Restored cars seem to have gone this way. That's ok. 
The bulk of the 289's were street thus bumpers. Race cars used what was available and easy.
Many 427's also do not represent original status as they were race cars, those with jack pads S/C and comp, and many with bad histories. Thus wrecked and restored x time and time again...... and few in numbers.
That said, ok... The rest of the 427's were street, bumpers...
Your car is awesome, would love to no more about it as it looks great and the white is a fantastic choice. Fell in love with 3028 as it too is white.
No picking a fight, just appreciate the banter....

427 cars will not have the jack crossbar clear the oil cooler scoop unless "reversed" from the 289 position. As the 289 oil cooler scoop is recessed as compared to the 427, the quick jacks can be further inboard. I would think the rears would still be in the 289 mounting orientation.
