Ford marked Alum 460 (A96) block on racing junk
These are tough to come by so I figured I throw it out there.
Aluminum Block-BB Ford 460 for Sale in DES MOINES, IA | RacingJunk Classifieds
It is a big bore block but it could be cool with a short stroke, a long rod and a set of P-51s in a Cobra!!

Jason, I understand that feeling with pieces like these. A 4.7 bore with 3.85 stroke produces a nice number always wondered how 533 inches would pull the Cobra around. Besides it being aluminum would this block be a direct replacement for an iron block? Would the Ford Motorsport A-429 heads work on that bore? Finally what is the significance of the Roberts Design water block?

A 4.700" bore with a 4.500", 4.600", or 4.700" stroke would produce an even nicer number.

Or go another .050" in the bore. 4.75" bore/4.7" stroke = 666 cubes for a truly evil engine

Those P51 heads are awesome, my motors only is 505 inches and made 800 plus hp in my 73 mustang, that pig weighs almost 4000 pounds and runs mid 9s in quarter mile

ohh man... is that a good price? No idea. I'd love to take all that iron off the front end of mine.

Decent price if it's really in good shape. Only 145 lbs! The 385 series motors are not nearly as pretty as an FE (IMHO), but you can't argue with 600+ cubes and a pair of P51's. Hate to admit it, but even without getting too crazy with exotic parts, it would send most FE's running home to their mommies!
I'll keep my FE though...

Mike,
i don't know if they are exact, but all of the standard 460 components bolt on
Yes A429s would bolt on, but would limit the power potential at 500+ ci
Brent,
625, 638, 652ci lol respectively
I consider myself a gluten for punishment. But I think managing 850-950 ftlbs of torque in a cobra (on street tires!) would be...challenging at best.

For conversation sake let's take away some stoke and
raise the operating rpm a little
4.700 bore
Micro spherical dish piston @13-1 (I'll bet it would run on 91-93 octane)
3.750 stroke (520 CI) steel/billet crank
7.200 BME forged alum rod (1.92 r/s ratio)
Ported P51s (400+ cfm)
Titanium valves and retainers with Beehive springs
.937 Keyway lifters
Cam it to make peak torque at 5800-6k
And spin the thing up to 8500-8750rpm
325 drag radial and a 4.30ish rear gear
That would make an amazing cobra!

You sure know how to say it. Cannot imagine the sound that thing would be making as it spins past 8k. With that setup drag radials would be a must have for this cat. Might give this gentleman a call today.
We have so much snow on the ground now and it is still coming, it will be May or June before it is all out of here.
