Isn't comparing the 911 to the Cobra kinda like comparing a P-51 Mustang or the P-38 Lightning to a F18? Different animals, different technology.
One you fly by the seat of your pants and all of your wits in place the other you pilot with the assistance of computerized nannies. One is visceral, the other sedate. No argument which is faster, more comfortable, easier to handle, goes further on a tank of gas but at the same time I really like old school where I need to do the work. I also have an '01 Audi S4 that has gone faster than the Cobra but it's so easy almost anyone could do it. Both at 155+ on GPS. BTW I've made two trips from Michigan to Colorado, Montana and home in SPF1855 and one trip to Colorado and back in SPF 2584, easy 10 hour days. Wind blown, hot, cold, dry, wet and baked but never uncomfortable. Must be just me. Jim |
I too have taken our car on all day rides cannot remember any discomfort must have been the adrenaline making me not notice. Also over the years have owned many muscle cars except for staying dry in wet weather none came close the Cobra in so many ways especially roll-on acceleration.
One thing that always grabbed me was there is not a bad side walking around a BB Cobra to this day find myself still enjoying that little walk around while the car is idling. |

I have had a couple SPF's and several Porsches and love them in different ways. Currently own a stroker 427W SPF and a 95 993 C2. Driving them back to back is strange. The cobra is raw and the Porsche is very refined! If I could only have one it would be the Cobra!

One thing to continue to remember here. My 97 C4S was a far different car than my 78 930 which was probably closer to the Cobra. Any modern Porsche can often be driven at, say, 80% and unless you're cluless it likely will be "exhilarating". 80% in a Cobra will likely result in substantially higher % of bad outcomes. That and the realization that bad outcomes result in big sheet metal expenses in modern Porsches. Those outcomes in Cobras usually involve a far bigger risk to YOU

It is a no accident 35k mile car. Polar Silver, black heated leather seats, 6-speed, Limited slip diff. Lowered to RS ride height. I owned it for a few years, then sold it to a collector in Oregon.
