Default Time for new tires

Now retired have much more time for hobbies the Cobra should have it's 22 yr. old BFG tires replaced. They are not weather cracked and still look nearly new BUT certain the rubber is much harder. I know this subject is discussed all the time now it is my turn.

Really want a set of sticky 15"s radials all around. Once tried a set of DOT drag radials did not like how they picked up sand. Once considered the bias BillBoard lettered tires, want radials period.
Fronts are 245/60-15 rears are 295/50-15

I recently selected tires and for 15's the consensus is Avons and a close second to Mickey Thompson's. I would go with the Avons. Tires on these cars should not be a budget item you should get the best ones you can because no matter what they are, they are not enough.

As long as I can get an exact replacement for the BFG's and find a supplier for the Avons will certainly consider them first.

I went with the MT Street Radial looks a lot like the BFG but a much better tire. I have a 500' gravel driveway & have no problems with stone pick up. I come out of the driveway slow and any small stones that are in the trendline come out pretty quickly and rarely do I have anything the hit the wheel well hard. I think you would like these quite a bit. They are a great cruising and street tire. Plenty sticky, so how is your retirement going M8? Is the snow gone up there yet? I still have 18 inches Just a note, MT is coming out with new sets of tires for 15" rims in the next month or so. I think they have a steel belted radial street/road race combo tire designed for rims from 15 to 20 inches with a much improved tread pattern. You might want to wait and check these out; there pretty slick. I'm thinking about replacing these street tires I just bought last summer they look so good, but I'll wait to see when they come out!

Hi SilverSmith. thanks for the info I will look into it. Retirement you ask, I LOVE IT! Mother agrees not going back to work how could it be any better.

The Cobra is getting a top to bottom examination this spring, pretty much decided on the roller cam upgrade and polish all engine aluminum.
Recently renewed friendship with drag racing buddies, local drag strip "Oxford Plains" is not going to close really looking forward to that.

We still have quite a charge of snow the weatherman says we have temps near 50 for at least a week or more it can't last long.
