John Edgar (Editor of Road & Track in the 50's-60's) Correct ? I knew he looked familiar. Thank you Blas. Ok I just remembered who John Edgar was, when you said a Ferrari, so your saying it's a Ferrari in the corner? Not Allard? Cheers Tom.

I'm thinking a Ferrari because of color (Red), what appears to be the #_8 on the car, and Edgar in the photo who ran that number on a red Ferrari.
As per the white Maserati being a Tipo 60 or 61, I look at the side exhaust (or lack of it), the door outline and what could be the black outline of welting between a fender and the body of the car which the Tipo 60 and 61 did not have to my knowledge. (All one piece body/fender sections) All purely speculation on my part with out a better photo.... but definitely Superman dressed in white. Woman perhaps Louis Lane? And hole in wall in backgrounf where Superman entered.....
Also, Lew's racing Morgan had wire wheels and no front bumpers in all the photos I find....
What year is the caddy? 1950’s something I think.

its a 53 Caddy, you can tell by the two piece dagmars. The guy in white I am guessing is a mechanic by the red rag in his back pocket.

John Edgar died in 1972 I believe. The Edgar Family appear to have a website that I just posted a message to. If I get a reply I will post them the photo to see if they can shed any light on this.... Next we look for Jimmy Hoffa maybe?

As the story goes, at least one of those belts was Carroll Shelbys Alligator belt, suitably trimmed for the purpose.

I wonder if the white car is actually a Devin SS? The wheel opening is flat and the doors are square shaped.

Actually, I correct myself. I believe it is an Elva 75. When I bought my 56 Jag, the neighbor across the street had an MG based Elva Courier. I had never even heard of one! He showed me a series of photos he had on Elvas and said the 75 competed against the Lotus Eleven.

I think the clue here is what appears to be the black line outlining the fender. Similar to the welting between the fender and the body on a VW bug. I’m not saying it’s a VW. Just that the fender is a separate panel from the body shell.

Yes, and the distance from the rear edge of the door and the wheel arch opening is quite different on the Elva.

Found this earlier shot of CS, taken circa 1956....

The car is a Ferrari, an 857 (4 cylinder, 3.4 litre) I think, although it could be a 410 (12 cyl., 4.9 litre). Car was owned by John Edgar

Cheers,
Glen

Neat Glen, I saw that car (I believe with Carroll driving) in 1959 at Shelton Wa. The Logging Day Festival Believe it or not the Airport track (Shelton's pop. was less then 2000 at that time) had many, many famous American racer from the late 50s-to early 60's there. Hill, Gurney, Ginther, etc. See if I can find something online about those races. Cheers Tom.

Nope not in 1959, here's the race results. No Carroll. Also these races went by 'The Seafair Cup' we had big time hydo races here at the same time "Thunder Boats" back in the day. We have a great Thunder Boat Museum here in Seattle, lots of those boats were build right here. https://www.racingsportscars.com/res...959-08-02.html

Hi Tom. My info said 1956, not 1959. He would have been driving for Aston Martin by '59

If that car is the 857 and not the 410, apparently John Edgar bought the car thinking his 857 was a new car, but found out soon after that under the new body it was somewhat race accident damaged/repaired from when Gendebien had been driving it. Enzo wouldn't have condoned that.....would he ?

Cheers!
Glen

hah hah! They did all sorts of stuff back then, changing serial numbers, updating older chassis and such. Enzo was very frugal.
