Trying somrthing new on ebay

I just put BDR1311 up on ebay and tried a new thing for me. Besides the 24 pics I also included 5 youtube videos that I hope will garner some interest. If you get a chance take a look at my add and tell me what you think.

I just saw my title....... "somrthing" ............ brilliant.

I had seen the ad the other day, great pictures and good quality videos! And good choice in color, shame to see it moving on so quickly. Good luck with the sale.

That is a very nice car and I really like that color red. Your add should generate a lot of interest and responses. I think the You Tube videos was a great idea. Best of luck with the sale.

Ron :)

JMHO, but e-bay is a horrible place to sell this type of car. Your pics are great though.

lovehamr 07-08-2015 12:50 PM

Ebay was not my first choice but my Cobra Country add (same pics) got exactly 2 emails. I'm open to suggestions, it's not like this is a fire sale or something.

Great looking ad on Ebay. Didn't know Ford had a red that popped like that. Great looking car, good luck with the sale.

I'm not sure why, but the "Prestige Showcase" ads seem to get a lot better response on CC.

lovehamr 07-09-2015 05:14 AM

I actually wanted to put it into a "Prestige Showcase" ad but Curt didn't want to. Like my car/pictures weren't good enough.

That website is horrible.
In business you want to be the first, the only or the cheapest.
It is currently the only and once that ends it will slide out of existence. Its navigation is archaic.
Its format is horrible. I go there to see what the used market has but given the cost of a good website it is perplexing why it continues in that format. It is incredibly frustrating to use.

Agreed. I've seen a lot of Web sites and I don't like the way the Cobra Country site works - popping up a separate main window, but opening links back in the first window. While I like to see what's on the market from time to time, I cringe every time I go there.

The design may have been current 15 or 20 years ago, but it's well past it's 'best before' date and needs some serious work to better embrace user experience design principles. While they're at it, any overhaul work should focus on mobile as the target - build for mobile and it can be displayed on every device (smartphone, tablet or desktop). BTW, that holds true for pretty much every Web site - not just Cobra Country.

I was just looking into that site myself, but the hefty entry fee, and Jurassic software made me think twice. That is a lot of money in the hole if the car don't sell.

Also, I was looking at a really nice 57 Thunderbird for my wife. I called about one I saw on Craigslist. I started talking to the owner of the bird, and turns out he is a classic car dealer. He told me he had been selling old cars for over 20 years, and the market in in the tank right now.

He said they sold the first car in three months about a week ago. I know summer is the best time to sell these old Snakes, but I think I may hold on to mine for a while longer.

One more thing if you like constructive criticism.

The wheels look GREAT in the photo you posted here with the car in the shade. I can see the details of the black wheels pretty good.

However, on the Ebay ad the red, and the black just don't look that good together, and the black is so black that the details of the wheels are lost.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, as I'm trying to look at the ad as someone would if there were going to buy it.

Have you considered adjusting the contrast and brightness on your monitor to a proper level? The picture posted in this thread probably shows the least amount of detail in the wheels when compared to the other pictures, at least when viewing on my phone/iPad/computer monitor/tv.

mtrain2000 07-10-2015 08:54 AM

The contrast is fine on my computer.

Like I said, the car he posted here in this thread looks way better than the pics on ebay. The whole car just looks better.

Just for arguments sake I just tried adjusting the contrast, then the brightness, and its still the same.

The shadowed pics of his car on Ebay look better as well. In the direct sunlight the black is just too black IMO for the wheels.

I read an article once on how to photograph cars. I skipped over the article several times as I'm not into photographing cars, BUT I ran out of things to read, and eventually read the article.

There were some good tips for taking pictures of your car, and one was don't paint the wheels so black that they loose definition. We were speaking of Cobra Country, and there is some great advice for taking pictures of cars. Even how to setup your digital camera.

Like I said, I'm not bashing the OP as he has a really nice looking Cobra, just throwing something out there that may help him.

Cobra Country is the ONLY place to sell a high end Cobra. Do you think he was trying to hurt your feelings?????? HE was trying to help you!!!!!!!!!! Archaic website, similar to everyone who buys a Cobra..... 95% of Cobras are sold sight unseen, pics either make it break it. I thank CC for making over $30K on 3 different cars. High price for an add, LOL, you are asking how much for your car? Penny wise dollar fool. Oh I am trying to help also, listen to his photo suggestions, use a tape measure, ladder, white shower curtain and your photos will be done in an hour with car sold after add listed. The hardest part is finding a good photo location, I like very early in morning just as Sun is coming up but not hitting car, remember brightest NATURAL shade of the day!!! No trees or buildings

madmaxx 07-11-2015 07:56 AM

I am the biggest prick and Curt has been one of the nicest guys i ever dealt with and painfully patient with me. He don't make any money if you look at the time he puts into your add. The words "your car isn't good enough" had never flowed from his mouth, he is not that type of person, I on the other hand..... BTW BDR is a perfect fit for CC.

madmaxx 07-11-2015 07:59 AM

don't forget when someone googles cobra, CC comes up first, look at his stats on webpage visits. Somebody buying a high end Cobra hits all avenues. Don't give away 10K for nothing. After 30 people low ball you on ebay you will lower price just to end pain. That usually when i buy and flip...

Hipstuff 07-13-2015 09:18 AM

The videos are a nice touch. Will definitely help it to stand out versus other sellers. Cool to see the support for Wounded Warriors too.

Maxx Are you talking to me here? Trying to hurt my feelings? Of course not. I know he was trying to help. And I did spend hours with a tape measure, step ladder and white shower curtain. If you see an issue with my pics please let me know. Didn't say anything about the price but did say that I got exactly 1 enquiry from the ad and that person tried to lowball me while accusing me of being a dealer. Go figure. I'm glad that you've had success on CC and if you have any tips I'm listening intently. Just like I did with Curt, who advanced my understanding of photography by magnitudes.

mtrain2000 thie picture that I posted here is directly linked to my ebay ad so how it can look better here than on ebay I don't know but suspect some web filtering. Here's one linked from my CC ad:
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...a-075rear3.jpg

lovehamr 07-14-2015 05:34 AM

And it's a no-sale @ $45k. Not a biggie but did expect a better response.
