More Truth (not really) in Advertising

Wonder what happens when the owner of the real "continuation car" sees this one floating around...........Reminds me of the fellow who advertised a CMC car as an "all original, very rare fiberglass CSX car made by CS himself" a year or so ago...............

Let the buyers beware..............

Bill,
If you use one of the Title companies on the internet you can make up any vin number you want, and you can buy that chassis no. plate many places. The only trouble with a 7 digit number is, most states want something a little longer. All the new cars have 17 digits and the cars back in CS days had 13 digits. Keep up the good work and keep warm on the January 1 2002, I know I will be nice in warm inside or out.

Gee.....

...I wonder what the owner of the SAI built CSX4247 feels about this and wonder if its common to have TWO cars with the same VIN number in the country. Hmmmmm.

Also, the seller states that this car is inditinguihable from an original. I can pick out a half a dozen differences in the pics alone. Nothing against the car, just don't make statements that are not true.

Someone should inform this states DMV about the serial number. THAT burns me up.

This is why CS is peeeeee ooood.

Why don't you send that to SAI and see what their lawyers think about it?:p

I just checked the eBay listing and the car has now SOLD at the 'buy it now price' of $36.5K. Hope the buyer knows what he got as well as what it is not ! same car was listed within last two weeks and word 'reproduction' was not used, nor was the reference to 'classicsroadsters' which is at least in this adv. the prior adv had been sent by a friend to SAI using their admin address posted on this CC member list. I assume they got it then. And of course, I believe Wayne Stoker and SpecialK ? of SAI also are readers of these postings and would have seen this thread. Yep, could very well be two cars with the same serial floating around in the various states' DMV logs...this one and the other a newer SAI Shelby...not good if that is the case. Agree, this adv is pushing the limit in my book of misrepresentation by serial number association. Bill.

Bill, it is unfortunate people of this caliber are involved with the marque. It soils an aficionado’s heart. I don’t own a CSX and I’m P’d. It makes you wonder how some people continue to function with a clear conscience... caring less about what men should possess - integrity. Sad, isn’t it?

My Cobra is a reproduction and I exhibit no hesitation in pointing that out. Most still appreciate the car for the beautiful performer that it is. Me... I’m living my dream... every time I place the key in the ignition... start her up... and take her out for a little real world “stress relief”.

By the way Bill; enjoy your traditional New Year’s Day drive. Wish I could join you.

Hoist one to the marque and enjoy safe holidays!

PHONEY IS AS PHONEY DOES

THAT'S EXACTLY WHY A LOT OF US GET SO DAMN MAD AT THE PHONEY BAST**DS WHO TRY TO SELL THEMSELVES OFF AS NAVY SEALS, SPEC. FORCES, RECON MARINES OR FIGHTER PILOTS.

MORE THAN ONE "BEER BRAWL" HAS STARTED OVER SUCH B.S.

FORTUNATELY IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO "SORT THEM OUT". CRAP STINKS - - - NO MATTER HOW OR WHERE YOU SPREAD IT.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

BLACKJACK

Gatorac 08-13-2003 02:14 PM

Try going to Traderonline.com and look at the classic and collectable ads. You see Cobra replicas called all kinds of things.

mrmustang 08-13-2003 02:24 PM

What do you want to know about the fake snake being passed off with the following serial #: CSX4247

Was last in Las Vegas, a truly piss poor replica, I felt sorry for the buyer, as I'm sure he most certainly did not get what he paid for.........

no. i'm the registrar for the 4000 series for saac.

Excaliber 08-13-2003 09:10 PM

Heck I'm niether a buyer or a "register",,,,but I still would like to see the original ad! I'm just curious what kind of car would be passed off as a "Shelby". I think it's important for any and all to know what car were talking about. To me it just seems like "good business" to keep up with the Cobra world, good, bad or ugly.

Just about every replica on ebay is under the Shelby category, albeit with explanation in the listing.
To their credit, the Kirkhams list their car in kit car, which while accurate is ironic, given what most others do....

Excaliber 08-13-2003 09:34 PM

Point well taken Brett!!!

Of course THIS case appears to be one of complete attempted deception as to the originality of the car. OR,,,,maybe it really is what it is claimed to be?

Ernie

mrmustang 08-13-2003 09:37 PM

I believe that the original ad was indeed forwarded to SAAC at at time................
