Posting the fraud warning here on CC has significantly helped anyone who might have been duped by this alleged fraud attempt.
This clubcobra thread pops up as the #1 Web Result if you google for:
"original Shelby Cobra CSX 3160"
"CSX 3160"
Anyone considering spending six-figures on a car should at the very least be doing a google search on the serial number.

I am curious, though. Does a CSX 4160 exist, and listed in the SAAC registry? Does it list as being in the LA area?
The problem for the owner of the actual vintage CSX 3160 now, is that he/she will have to deal with some skepticism or suspicion when selling the real deal. Easily overcome with proper documentation. Better that than a fraudulent Shelby and somebody getting duped.

The chances of this being a real cobra being scammed are about as great as that of the caller being a real attorney. This has Nigeria Scam written all over it.

Really? it's a fairly large problem for rare muscle cars to be conjured out of or cloned from one of their weaker siblings, then sold as a rare muscle car to the unsuspecting buyer. Why not a Cobra?

Has he popped up again? No. He's already figured out that counterfeiting a Cobra is hard because there is a fair knowledge base and moved on to something else. Noone will ever hear from this guy again.

A guy down the street from me was "restoring" 1963 and 64 Chevy Impalas. Re-selling them or parting them out. One day several black SUV's pulled up and a bunch of cops in full tactical gear raided the place. A very nice house too with a big workshop out back. They seized everything and I haven't seen the guy since. So yes, there are all kinds out there!

I'm betting the caller has dyslexia and likely mixed the letters and numbers up.
From the info Ned has provided, and deciphering the code, I'm fairly sure it's an attorney, but I bet the Cobra is an ERA #732 and it's painted some G-d foresaken beige color.

Good grief. I applaud the keepers of the realm from trying to protect the planet from an idiot trying to palm off a fake car to an unsuspecting person. Of course, less than .0001% of the people that even know what it means are here, so just keep on being sure you're all safe. You should really worry about the little old ladies down your street being scammed by fake roofers after your hailstorm.
This place does a lot better in helping people with blown up MSD ignition boxes.
