Identifying a COBRA Car
I am new to this forum, I tried to upload some images I received from a friend who found a cobra for sale, but not able to upload them here.I need to know a bit more about it. I have also received a kind of a VIN # CA-XXXXXX.
Is there a way for someone to help me identify what is this car and if possible the history? |
I am always getting : Upload of file failed although the file is 30Kb Jpeg
|
I bought a file from vin inspect , It shows that the car was sold 3 times in auctions, First it was declared as a Ford Cobra 1965, then in the last auction it says SPCN cobra 1965
|
Are we allowed to post the VIN number here ? Does it help in identifying who manufactured this car ?
|
Hi!
Cobra Relicas can pretty much bear any VIN you can think off... Try posting a pic again. I know, it can be tedious. |
I was able to upload a pic as a profile pic. Does it help?

B Daniel,
I am not sure of this but I believe that they have changed the site so anyone with less than a certain amount of posts can't post pictures or links without a moderators approval. Now I am not sure of this mind you. But you might send the pictures to one of the people who can post them and ask them to post them for you. Ron |

As for the rest, depending on the state, and even the county the car was originally registered in, any number of VIN configurations could have been used. Some can be tracked back to a specific manufacturer, others are just whatever number in the state/county sequence that was issued. Post it here, perhaps someone will recognize it. Bill S. |
Thanks Ron, How can I send to someone? Can you help me with this?

Here are some pictures. Was the car stored somewhere damp?

I just got the confirmation, the car is the same of the link 750hp posted

He loved the look and thought it was a cobra at first.
The problem is that the car is without any paper We don't know what is the year of manufacturing nor who produced it. Is there a way to identify the car? |

Chevy power, Messed-up dash, bolt-on wheels, all minus'. Overall body looks ok. need frame/suspension pics to help identify, allthough someone might get clues from dash and door interior.
How much is AED 25,000 in us dollars? |
25000aed is around 7000us$
do you mean it has a GM engine? Car can not be moved nor started, its a 'buy as is' |
The doors look somewhat like the early Classic Roadster doors did with that cut out in the front but I don't think they are the same. The dash is also like a couple I have seen in early CRs but I don't know if they were custom made or came with the kit.

It looks to me like a car from the UK, because of the components, like steering column (XJ6) and the body shape which is more like a version of the UK built 60s 427 with a 289 in it.
I thought RAM for a while, but RAM had very wide transmission tunnels to hide the tubular space frame (which this car does not have). I would search the web for images of Brightwheel, DAX, Cheetah, Pilgrim, Sumo, Southern Roadcraft (list imcomplete...) and compare with your frame and suspension parts - or post at cobraclub.com (UK) A picture from under the car showing frame and front suspension might help. Obviously, it's a Chevy SB motor. |
