Any Cobra Museum Cars in Los Angeles
I am going to Los Angeles at the end of February and would like to find out if there are any Cobra museums where Cobras are exhibited. Definitely headed to Petersen. Would appreciate suggestions from LA folks or anyone who has visited the area. Interested in post 1950 autos. Saw the Nethercutt but seems like mostly antiques. Thanks. Henry.

I have not visited it, but it is my understanding that a new Shelby Museum was to open in 2015 in Gardena, CA.
The information below is from the press release I read.

"Located at 19021 South Figueroa Street in Gardena, the museum area will be approximately 40,000 square feet while the "Shelby's Snake Pit" VIP lounge will be around 5,000 square feet. An approximately 15 foot high sculpture of a Cobra will be the centerpiece of the area with a winding “road” traversing the facility. The project is being managed by Tellus Global, Inc., of Los Angeles."

Has anyone visited this site? Any reviews?

 Michael

Shelby is building a museum in Gardena at his old facility, but I'm not sure it has opened yet.
It is a short hop from LA to Las Vegas by air if you want to visit their main facility and do the whole tour. They have some nice stuff there. It's very close to the airport so just a cab ride, a visit and back on a plane to LA.
An easy one day trip (as long as you stay out of the casinos).

United Artist theater early morning Saturdays. They usually had a cobra or 3 when I moved away a few years ago. Don't underestimate the Nethercutt. 300 antique cars & they keep them all in running condition. It's a pretty amazing visit.

 | Agreed. If you can get time with Lynn and do a tour with him, the best of the best hands-down.

Will he just do a tour with people? I often go to LA and would love that.
I was recently at the new Peterson. It was great, but honestly I liked the old one better. The cars that really stood out at the new one were: (1) Magnesium bodied Benz race car, (2) Crocker (my favorite cycle), and (3) Vincent Black Shadow (my second favorite cycle).

He doesn't conduct regular tours, so pretty much a private collection that he grants folks to see. Better be nice to him and bone up on what you think you know!

I'm actually leaving for LA tomorrow and have a nice grouping of car related places to visit. I did a similar trip in 2012.The plan is:
 George Barris's Shop
 Old Crow Speed Shop
 Mooneyes Speed Shop
 SO-CAL Speed Shop
 NHRA Museum
 Riverside Raceway Museum
 Peterson Museum
Bob's Big Boy Friday for dinner
 Saturday morning Cars and Coffee
 Grand National Roadster Show
 Hillbank Superformance Dealer
Wish I would have know about Lynn Parks avaibility earlier. I might have added an additional day to the trip.
Lots of car places to visit out there, and it' 70 degrees too....
Going to eat at a couple of the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives joints in LA for nourishment while there.

Sorry Guys to Hi-Jack this thread, but, it's along the same theme. If you were to plan the ultimate Cobra/Shelby Road Trip thorought the US, what places and where would you stop to visit? California and Las Vegas have several to visit, but I know there are more in other parts of the US. Thanks, Art Fink |

It's difficult to find that many great cars to see in one place.

Denbeste owns Shelby Engines and has quite a dealership in Windsor, Ca. It's a beautiful part of the country as well.

It is the new home for CSX2000 (it was purchased by Greg Miller) and last time I was there 6 GT40's. And more Cobras than you can shake a stick at. It also has "other stuff" to look at along the walls will be thousands of little treasures that will tax your memory.

IMPORTANT: OPEN 10-4 SATURDAY ONLY!
