There is no such thing as a nice cobra for $20,000. If you are in the LA area .. go to Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills. They hold this great car show every Sunday from 7:00 am until 11:00 am. Once each month for 7 months or so . .they feature a special marque (Ferrari, Porsche, etc). There are always 6 or so cobras there. A couple are normally Superformance, a backdraft or two, an ERA, and sometimes an original. You will also see other cars "that make noise" and might be better fitted. But check them out. You cannot buy and register a TURNKEY cobra in California .. so you either buy a used one from somebody or you buy a "turnkey minus" and have the drive train installed by a second party. Talk to Backdraft and Superformance ... they will educate you on what THEY can do. Then look for a nice used one that already has a California registration. Expect to pay $40,000 -$50,000 for a good car. 427 Cobra Country--Ford AC Cobra replica manufacturers SUPER-SITE is a good place to check.

The first thing you should do is get together with some owners local to you and talk with them. Experiencing the car in real life is a lot different than talking about them on a forum. Go for a ride or drive (if they'll let you) in a couple different brands and see if you like one over the other. They are all different in different ways. Then you'll have a better idea of what you're getting into.

Do not let the manufacture badge on these cars be the only benchmark you use to choose your car. There are so many builders good and bad it's all about scrutinizing every car. There are some fine examples of the least appreciated cars this could work to your advantage.
Take a friend well versed in automobile tech if you do not feel comfortable your car is out there. Have fun looking and good luck. Mike |
What do you guys think of this one : Shelby | eBay ?
The seller has told be he would finish it before i pick it up. The cool thing is that its in SoCal and i can see it live. |

What suspension, what shocks, what brakes front and rear, what compression in the motor, 650DP is too much for a mild built 351W. There is so much left out of the description, that it would be unknown whether the car was a quality build or not. Perhaps a call to York Sports Cars Inc would be your next step. With that said, I have several friends who have A&C kits, and they love them. Finally, remember, to you, they all look the same, but underneath, they are not all built the same, even if it was the same kit manufacturer I'll leave it at that |

take a look at a few different companies, think modern if you want modern. Coyote engine, new tip trans (someone here has paddle shifters too), irs. air conditioning, cruise control, anti lock brakes, etc If you can't build, look for someone to build for you with the things you want. there's no reason you can't get what you want if you have the budget . You're not likely to find a used one set up exactly how you would like, and only you can decide what concessions you're willing to take in compromise good luck |
