I was talked into showing up at a car show at the NHRA museum a few years ago. Turned out that it was sponsored by KitCar Magazine and FFR and was full of FFR's, Arntz, Butler and others. All great cars and I was quite impressed. Very proud owners and every car unique. That's what's it all about, I think.;)

blykins 04-18-2016 02:08 PM

I agree sir. Each person has their own amount of creativity that they want to put into the car.

My stance is that you should pick up a dictionary.

A dictionary? In my best Evan Harris "voice", the SAAC Registry is the "Bible" of all things Shelby and their definition of "kit car or replica" is correct IMO. I'll cling to my Registry for my Shelby-related information and NOT my American Heritage Dictionary.

As I said earlier, if you think the cars in those posted Cobra pics of yours approximate the Cobra shape, then I don't know what to you. The only thing that comes to mind is that you're frequenting the wrong site.

blykins 04-18-2016 02:20 PM

Approximate? Sure.

The first one was more of a joke than anything, but the second one definitely "approximates" a Cobra shape....sidepipes, windshield, dash, headlight fairings. Anyone could see that picture and if you asked what the shape was......they would tell you a Cobra....albeit with fender skirts and a VW engine.....but hey, Shelby may have approached Volkswagen when he was trying to come up with an engine plan, right?

Bernica 04-18-2016 02:26 PM

Here's a nice "original"...hey, his name is on it, right?!:LOL:

I feel sorry for all those poor Kirkham, Shelby, ERA and FFR owner/builders who built their kit cars out of a bunch of boxes and now, according to Brent, can't be called Cobra replicas.

What's even funnier is that Bernica's CSX4250 was originally built out of boxes by the original purchaser. Sorry, Bernica. You own a "kit car" and not a" Cobra replica". According to Brent that is.:LOL:**)

Only if Shelby would have installed the engine in the rear and called the front area a "frunk."

You are correct and I am totally fine with that. Call me what you want, I'm doing fine.:)

Ya, I know you're fine. I'd be pissed though, because Brent put your beautiful CSX in the same category as those other ugly kit cars. At least in his view.

But you're way better than me. You got this "zen thing" going. I'm ill-tempered.

I think CS rarely get the facts get in the way of a good sales pitch. He should have run for elected office.

Like water off a duck's back to me....
As you get older you realize what is really important and what you should be grateful just to have. Don''t care what it is, it's yours.

As far as ill-tempered, HA! I spent most of my life that way and have scars to prove it. Trust me, I didn't grown up with no silver spoon.

Zen-like? Never studied it. Just came to the same conclusions on my own.;)

Are you serious? Way to spin my words around. Let me guess, work in politics? Ill tempered doesn't even touch the half of it.

Go back and learn to read for goodness sake.

No need to insult someone's reading comprehension here. Bernica's CSX4250 was built from boxes. According to you, he owns a "kit car", not a "Cobra replica", because his Shelby was home-built from near-scratch.

I, OTOH, purchased a complete roller from Kirkham and just had to have someone install the engine and trans, therefore, according to you, I have a "Cobra replica." Not a "kit car."

The other position of yours is that Thormaine (prefers Chevy's) and Jeff McCabe (local member here with an electric-powered FFR) do not own "Cobra replicas", because they don't have Ford engines. They own "kit cars."

I understand your position(s) perfectly. ;)

Am I serious? Yes, I think your position is nonsense. And, no, I'm just giving you a hard time for the fun of it. No one takes this $hit seriously. :D

I agree with Brent. You dumb.:p

You have spun my words so that you can get the most entertainment out of it. I don't consider it funny no matter what Emoji you put on the end of the sentence.

Why yes, it was. By very caring folks that didn't cut a corner on anything. Pretty sure every box came straight from SAI, as I have a huge binder of receipts. It's still a replica, but a good one IMHO.

Mean? I'm so upset about this thread that I'm going to pull my 482 and install a Viper V10, an engine from another Shelby creation just because. Kit car, schmitt car.

RodKnock 04-18-2016 04:33 PM

I love this!
