Trunk Latch Help

I have a Mr. Bruce 289 FIA body with his fiberglass trunk, pan on a modified FFR frame. I have the trunk, latch installed in the trunk, but no "latch pin" on which the trunk latch can grip to keep the trunk closed. Any ideas? Original design?

What kind of latch does FFR use? It's been a long time since I built one and don't remember.

FFR uses a straight pin but their body and trunk aluminum is different. I'll find a pic. On mine the pin will have to be above the body as shown in the pic

Here is a pic of the FFR setup. See the difference between my trunk and the ste FFR?

Thanks Jeff. I'll look to see if I can fashion something similar

This is what your trunk uses for a latch?

Jeff's is pretty close. Here's an original. Not a very close up photo though.

Yes, my latch looks like that. But my latch is located too high. I'll have to make something special.

So What I did was .......Get some threaded rod from home depot or.... Get a link of metal chain and weld the link lengthwise to the end of the threaded rod.
Get two nuts two big washers for your height adjustment and the vise and acetylene..to bend the rod. Once you get it right , get some nice leather and cover it .

I discovered another issue (endless it seems) this time with the trunk latch arm. As it moves from locked to unlocked, the arm hits the body. Looks like I'll have to notch it like in the picture above. I've marked the body where it needs trimming back (black line) and where the hole needs to be made to allow the arm to clear (orange line)

It'll just be more like original!

If you are building a FIA style car, consider using the bungy cord with 2 washers as a trunk lock. It's not like you will ever be parking is a commuter parking lot and need security.

I'm using the bungy cord setup, but without the latch, the trunk will bounce while driving around.
