I guess I mistakenly thought all cars and trucks made today are 50-state compliant. :confused:

Nope. I tried to buy a F-250 Super Duty in Texas, but no CA emissions. Even verified with our friend on this site that works for Ford. I have another friend that actually bought a truck in Montana (no CA emissions) with about 5k on it, so he just drove it all over Canada on hunting trips and to the east coast. Then, once mileage was good, he brought it to CA with no issues.

The "R" certification is the same. There is no difference in the powertrain, only the chassis.
