CSX 2000 is a significant piece of automotive history and a very special car, but Shelby made 654 more of them, almost exactly like it. Further Shelby, Kirkham, Superformance and ERA continue to replicate Slabsides too.

Wow! I have seen it in person and sat in it. Gary Patterson of SAI said they used to keep trying to sneak it in the back and re-do upholstery etc and CS would have nothing to do with it. I was the "hands off" car at SAI...."leave it just like it is".

I have a feeling the car will go for huge money. And to Japan.

Default What about this story from King Cobra forum about injunction against auctioning it?

Isn't the timing of this just about the time of the Monterey auctions? Seems to me how the Foundation spends its money is a separate issue from if they have a right to sell the car. But I'm no lawyer

Since the car is an asset of the Trust/Foundation I think the issues are very much related. If I'm challenging how the money is being spent I'd want to prevent them from gaining access to several million in cash until the first issue is resolved.

I believe that the hearing is set for the same day as the auction, so that could complicate things....

CSX2000 is being offered by the Shelby Trust.
Point taken earlier that the family most likely wants the money sure sounds correct.
Just sad it will be in private hands.
I'd guess $10M

Makes sense I guess....I bet insuring that car cost a pretty penny every year, and if you got numerous members wanting the money you have no choice but to buy them out or sell the car and split the proceeds.

Got chills watching the video. What an awesome piece of automotive history. Shelby is a true American Legend.

The car will be auctioned on my birthday. Just an FYI. Everyone now knows what I want.

Very cool! Will be THE one to watch! I'll be surprised though if it goes beyond $20 million.

I believe as close to an original "test mule" as you can find.

Random question: if you owned it, would you drive it on the road? I think I'd be too scared of an inattentive texting soccer mom. lol

This is a car that the buyer will only be the "keeper" and make sure it stays just as it is.

The original is worth more, and the replicas are not even in the same ballpark...not even worthy of mentioning in the same sentence.

You missed my point. Of course, CSX2000 is worth millions upon millions and a replica isn't. But the fact is that Ferrari doesn't make replicas of the '62 GTO or the '57. And Ferrari doesn't allow other companies to make replicas either. So there's been zero watering down of the Ferrari image. And I think that adds to Ferrari mystique and value. And that's one reason why those two vintage Ferrari's sold for $35MM+.
