Side mirror placement

Can you tell me the best place for the rear yew mirrors on the door or the fender?
I have both left and the right.
Look good on fender but I don't know how usable it is there.

You don't need to mess with the body if you mount them on the windscreen. You can always undo it, no harm no foul. Plus, with the bulging rear fenders, the higher up, the better.

Even up on the windshield side post I still see the rear wheel hump in about the lower third of the mirror. I don't know how I could see anything out of one mounted on the front fender in the standard location. But it would depend on your height and seating position also.

True Dan, I can stilll see them. But it definitely worse in my past Cobras with body mounted mirrors.

The Raydot-style are the preferred mirrors for windshield mounting, and they are available in flat or convex lens (for the passenger side).

I've made several mounts out of stainless to move the mirror onto the windscreen.
We make a badge to cover the hole on the fender.

That was my experience. With the mirrors on the fenders the rear fenders dominated the view, pretty much to the point of useless. I mounted a pair of bullet mirrors on the windshield pillars and, while I can still see them in the mirrors, they're tucked away in one corner of the field of view. Much better.

Check out the mirrors at thedreamcarcompany.com I have them on my Backdraft windshield and they are excellent. I would not mount any mirrors on the fender.

I installed a couple of small mirrors in the upper left and right corners of the windshield. Bought them at Walmart, they originally came with adhesive backing, but I modified with a short shaft to connect to a suction cup so they are easily removable.

The mirrors are about 2 1/2 inches wide and are on a gimbal, so they can be adjusted as needed. Cost about $1 each. The shape follows that of the windshield frame in the top left and right corners, are chrome, and look like they were made for the car.

They really help for the left and right blind spots, those areas where I find read traffic likes to stay when they come up for a look see.

Just a quick follow up comment.....these small mirrors are a supplement to the door and dash mounted mirrors, not replacements.

I have the DreamCar mirrors on my SPF. I love them. One of the biggest advantages is that one doesn't look through the wind wing to utilize the mirror, thus no distortion. By being mounted inside the wind wing on the passenger side, it is easy to lean over and make an adjustment, especially after my bride has been in the car and adjusted them so she can see what is behind us. I had the RayDots before and adjusting them was a pain, although only done rarely. The DreamCar mirrors are a little larger in diameter and are slightly convex.

Since both styles are mounted on the windscreen, there is some minor bounce when the windscreen bounces and flexes. The bounce is about the same for either style.

You need to check with the seller to make sure the mounts will work for your car.

Finish Line sells a bracket to windshield mount the Raydot mirror. Fits most...but not Superformance. Had to make my own...

Terry responded immediately that he had material supply issues and was waiting for billet aluminum to arrive, and he kept me fully in the loop throughout. When the mirrors arrived they looked great.

The instructions were good, but because of the way my wind wings had been installed by a previous owner I couldn't follow the instructions as written and just swap the wind wings from passenger side to driver side. I had to completely diassemble the mounting blocks and wind wing brackets and then reassemble in a different fashion. The photos were extremely helpful as they showed clearly what the finished product would look like. When it was all done the mirrors fit perfectly and I'm ecstatic about their fit, finish and function.

Terry at DreamCar Co. was very helpful and was very prompt in responding to emails.

One of the best supplier experiences I've had in a long time. Highly recommended - both for the product but especially the service.
