Loosened everything up and used a piece of a steel bedframe as a cheater bar on the wheel to push things straight and got her dead nuts on!

With all the crawling around on the concrete for hours, I wish I could say I just changed the oil....

Atta-boy: That's the way to do things. Those aches and pains will be well worth it. :)

Tore the Jag differential apart, pulled off all the Wilwood master cylinders to install new ones. Building an air cleaner box as the one on there does not flow enough for the engine.

I want to do this mod too. I really hate the chrome louvers. So Duplicolor Royal Blue?

Mine turned out to be Duplicolor Patriot Blue Metallic (BCC0409)

The Duplicolor rack at my store had about 8 different dark metallic blues, and I took all 8 of them out to parking lot, pulled the car into the sun, and just compared the caps to the car (from 3 different angles), and eliminated them one by one, until I was left with this one....

and then, while I was looking up this color online (It's a Chrysler color), I actually found this old post on ClubCobra, from waaaaay back in 2003- Look at the car in 2nd pic - Looks familiar, doesn't it?

Future rock chips on the nose are going to be a breeze to take care of, now...

Rock chips add character, called patina. Leave them.

I changed my set of BB's for another set with Avons.
I hate to say it (again) but what a difference.
BB's never again. I'm only saving them because some day I'll take some pro pics and they look better.

I have been trying to work out why my Haymens adjustable cooling fan relay starts vibrating when it reaches the right temperature. Sometimes the fans wouldn't come on at all. As soon as I wriggle the wires going into the sealed unit, the fans would start up. So I hot wired a switch into the relay on circuit, and the vibrating relay would stop and the fans stay on. Frustrating almost cooking the engine.

But since the UPS man came yesterday with a big box from SummitRacing, and a smaller box from Fran Kress, I had plenty to keep me busy in the garage...

And, I've had the car almost a week - So why not start drilling holes and swapping parts?:LOL::LOL:

Anybody wanna buy a pair of later style Red, White, and Blue Cobra deck emblems...? I have a pair I no longer need :3DSMILE:

Before:

After:

I tried to install that same round air filter housing on my SPF....no go....the hood bangs into the housing by about an inch. Had to stick with my small-diameter filter/housing. Bummer.

philminotti 10-07-2016 04:55 PM

Changed my oil today. 10 quarts of Joe Gibbs HR-1 15W-50.

Bill D 10-07-2016 06:22 PM

:mad:I scrapped my roll bar

They do make recessed-bases for those 14 inch air cleaners, which would drop the top about 1-1/2 inches. That might still be tight on your engine, but just something to ponder:

14 inch air cleaner recessed base

I had the tape measure out, and was measuring for the Scott Drake air cleaner and valve covers about 4 hours after unloading my car from the trailer the day I brought it home

I still have about 3/4 inch of clearance between the air cleaner lid and the underside of the hood.

No more 427-style pusher fans on my car.

Today I set up a pair of Perma-Cool puller fans- One 12 inch fan on a dash switch, and a 9 inch fan on a thermal auto-switch (set to come on at 215-ish degrees...

I also added a piece of stucco screen 2 inches in front of the radiator to act as a bug shredder, to protect my radiator fins and help my radiator last longer.

And, I also installed my Tripod headlights :)

The other fans don't do **** anyway. Pullers are the way to go. That's why Kirkham uses them.

Now go get clear bra put over the headlight lens. They will never yellow and it protects them from breaking from a rock. Even if they are plastic.

I didn't do it myself but Tom Lucas of FE Specialties texted me yesterday saying he was in the area so I said to drop on by. He adjusted the valves although most every one didn't budge.
Apparently I've kept the carbs in tune %/

It was a few weeks ago but I did change the axles with Kirkham's latest and greatest, (even beefier than before, Pat), new F1 CV boots and upgraded the CVs with new balls and chromoly cages. So far, so good

Part of the fun of owning one of these neat little hot rods. It's starting to cool off here in the Northeast time to gear up for winter projects. After redoing the throttle linkage and changing a few things in the engine compartment about ready to drain a little antifreeze and pull the intake manifold for polishing.
Went all over the running gear this summer all new fuel system built this car near 24 yrs ago.

leroy17 10-10-2016 06:37 AM

Steering overhaul (rack was already rebuild and column re-shimmed) as covered in this update on my ol Arntz rebuild.

Do you know what year that improvement was done. My car is about 4 years old.
