What Did You Get Done On Your Cobra Today?

Thought this might be a fun thread. What did you get done today?

I fabbed up a couple of brackets for my Raydyot repop mirrors. I made them from 3/16" thick aluminum plate, and attached them to the windshield posts utilizing the factory mounting points. I recessed the screws using bugel-head machine screws, slightly longer than stock to make up the thickness of the bracket. Anywho, here's the driver's side. Soooooo much better than the useless fender-mounted mirror.

My car shakes so bad all mirrors are useless on my car. Must be the big block talking.

I have been putting the interior in the car the last few weekends. Not finished yet but getting there. Richie

Today, I flushed the antifreeze. 50/50 mix of Autozone Conventional Green and Distilled Water from the grocery store. I throw in a bottle of Watter Wetter as well. I do that every two to three years.

Well, it's been raining all day in "Sunny" Arizona...

But since the UPS man came yesterday with a big box from SummitRacing, and a smaller box from Fran Kress, I had plenty to keep me busy in the garage...

And, I've had the car almost a week - So why not start drilling holes and swapping parts?:LOL::LOL:

Anybody wanna buy a pair of later style Red, White, and Blue Cobra deck emblems...? I have a pair I no longer need :3DSMILE:

That change looks awesome. Are you going to get pin drive wheels or stay with the lug nuts??

Phx Mike 10-02-2016 07:16 PM

Robert that looks great!

Replaced radiator hoses and flushed coolant system.

Made a skirt to force air through the radiator instead of it just running over the top and into the engine compartment.

Got it done Friday for the Coronado Run. Engine ran nice and cool and had no leaks or issues the entire trip.

Thanks :)

I'm keeping the lug nuts... but I am hacking on an idea for camouflaging them a little better... more to come on that later (if it works :p)

Oh, and I forgot to mention that while I had my valve covers off, I learned something else about my engine- Solid lifters, Serious old-school.

That air cleaner and valve cover swap really look better, more appropriate. Nice work!

Cleaned and polished my rear fender as a precaution after the tank burped gas out on it during a fuel stop.

All is good - love urethane paint. :)

Oh yes - did go for a drive. :D

Anthony- I really like the way you used all 3 windshield screws to attach your mirror bracket. Very good idea.

Those screws are pretty small, and the only threads they contact are soft brass, so spreading the load across all three is very smart.

If my Raydyot mirror wasn't already mounted to the fender, I'd be borrowing your design on this...

Thanks, but it was purely accidental, I can assure you. :-)

When I build my Lemans hardtop, I need to figure out a design for side windows that won't crash into the mirrors.

One more mod, that I started yesterday, but finally got back onto the car today (after the paint was dry)

I was worried that matching the blue on the car would be nearly impossible using just a Duplicolor rattle can, But as soon as I slid them back into place, I was blown away.. They are a perfect match.

Three Cheers for using OEM colors on your Cobra...!!!!

I put some new shoes on the 289 and took it in for a front alignment. They found the rear end thrust angle was off so I brought it home and Old Schooled it with string line and a tape measure. Loosened everything up and used a piece of a steel bedframe as a cheater bar on the wheel to push things straight and got her dead nuts on!

With all the crawling around on the concrete for hours, I wish I could say I just changed the oil....

I want to do this mod too. I really hate the chrome louvers. So Duplicolor Royal Blue?

I also want to go with a full exhaust to get rid of the side pipes, or at least tuck them in under the body. Guess I need to get the car up onto the lift!
