In the last picture showing the trunk with gas tank - what is the I D plate on

nice looking car - chevy engine not a problem - it's a replica anyways ;)
just a quick observation - in the 3rd pic (showing engine bay) - it looks like a Glass fuel filter - first thing to remove if so, along with the air filter unit. I've read to many stories of the glass filters breaking and chucking out fuel onto hot areas - not good Air filter apparently catch fire - paper filter so another thing to remove. good luck and drive steady. rgds Gary |

I'm not currently concerned about the Chevy Engine, its an Arntz which was originally designed for the SBC so its kind of correct in its own way... That is a great observation about the glass fuel filter. It needs changing anyway so will make sure i replace with a modern non breakable one. The owner has already removed the air filter and i believe will supply a new one, that triangular one is Ugly anyway.. Cheers |
i wouldn't be concerned about chevy engine either - too much whittering about chevy engine in cobra, unless you're running a genuine 60's one, then it's a fake snake anyway - lol :rolleyes:
Have a 383 chevy in ours, sounds and looks the parts, i'm under no illusion as to driving an original cobra, it's a fake plastic one. Good luck with the purchase rgds Gary |

The Arntz/Butler cars always had a really nice original shape. Great lines and stance and are supposed to be good drivers. Very nice looking car. Get it registered and start driving it, then decide what changes you want to make, if any.
If it were mine, I would thinks seriously about taking out the fuel cell and changing that to an undermounted fuel tank and fill it from the filler on top of the body. Then you could make a real trunk that is actually kind of usable by fabbing and installing some trunk panels and floor. Bob |

In order to do that, you would literally have to cut out the whole trunk area. It is resting on the floor of the trunk that sits about 8" below the frame rails.
Not a small task by any means. |
