Please Help Identify this Kit
 

Hi Guys

Trying to figure out what this is before i go and look at it.

There are a few small details that i hope will help identify it.

Central Gas cap in rear body work
Lack of Roll hoops
Shape of Dash panel
Molded Drip rail around hood opening and the way the hood is supported in the corners.

Oh and yes and it has a Chevy engines (heaven knows why?)

It seems the rear end might be a Jag IRS and from the limited research have done Arntz or Butlers were available with a Jag IRS.

Arntz. I think Butler moved the fuel filler to the right rear.

From what i can gather the Arntz cars are pretty good quality and quite highly regarded?

Is that correct?

They are definitely high quality, but a little old school by today's standards (especially the front suspension). Everything can be upgraded. Probably the worst thing about that car is the Chevy engine. Mine has one, but I drive the car everywhere and do not really care.

From the pictures, it looks like a nice car, but pictures can be pretty deceiving. Everything on them is easy to fix and the parts are readily available except the body panels.

I read that most of the Arntz Cars were Chevy powered in the early days so i am not that bothered by it.
Plus a Chevy Crate 383 is much cheaper than a Ford equivalent....

I've also read due to the large set back of the engine the footwells can be very cramped. (more than the average replica) How do you find yours?

Do you have any pictures you can share?
I would love to see another one for comparison.

Did you upgrade the front end from MGB to Mustang II?

Yes, they are cramped partially because the pedals come up through the floor. It is something you get used to, but if you drive it for a long time, it is a little hard to stretch. Somebody was working on hanging the pedals from the top. Neat idea, but probably a lot of work. The up side is the can handles really nice because it is roughly 49/51 balance. With the 10" wide front tires and manual steering. It still steers pretty easy.

I have never heard of a Mustang ll front end upgrade. I suppose you could do it, but unless you are good at fabrication, you might have a hard time. I have seen a lot of Arntz and Butler cars and they all had MG front ends. There is a company called FAST in Michigan that has a tube upgrade with Wilwood brakes. Easily bolts in p,ace. They are not real cheap, but they work great with coilover. I have that upgrade in mine. I think Unique Cobras also have an upgrade as they originally used MG front suspension. I called them, but they were the same price as FAST and the FAST was a bolt in and theirs required welding etc.

Mine has a LS3 now with a T56. It has 575 hp with 3.70 gears and it runs great. The frame/ body in these cars are really strong. If I had to guess, yours is probably a Tupe 3.

It looks like an NAF. Wouldn't the motor be back a little further on a Butler/Arntz

Looking at the width of the transmission tunnel and how the alternator is partialy hidden by the hood opening i would say the motor is plenty far back..

No, I don't need another one ! Reason I asked is because it looks like the one another member here, "Indiana Moon" has in South Bend, IN, and his was for sale a short time ago.

I believe the car was originally in CA and was brought to Texas in 2014.

Just checked out Indiana Moon and his car is a B&B not an Arntz it seems.

As a bonus i think we will be able to get the car up on a lift to get a good look underneath.

Well, shes a beauty.
Very Very Clean.
When told it had less than 1000 mile son it at first i didn't believe it but after seeing it i think it could be true.

There is a chassis ID number welded on one of the Cross Members as G R 173, any ideas what that might be? (Picture below)

Ok first the negatives.
The paint isn't great.
It looks fine up-to about 5 feet away, any closer and you can start to see the flaws.
I'm concerned about the registration and inspection.
It was brought into Texas in 2014. I am told it has been registered but it doesn't have an inspection.
It has never had a license plate permanently fixed to the body....
There are no mounting holes. Plus there is no space between the license plate light and the trunk handle.
Oh and it has no windshield wipers.

It still has the MGB lever shocks, not sure if thats a problem or not. I'm not worried about it at the moment.

The central mounted Fuel filler is a dummy, you fill the tank from inside the trunk.

One odd thing i noticed is that the engine and trans is Solid mounted. There are no rubber isolators in the engine mounts at all.
Is that common for an Arntz?

And now the Positives!
This thing is brand new.....
It looks like it was completed only a few months ago....
