Default Del Mar Results

The winning streak ended Saturday, Scott ticked a pylon and moved it out of a box drawn around it giving us a two second penalty. Although he was considerably faster he was not 2 seconds faster so we lost in the 16 car shoot out. Scott set fastest time of all cars on all three days and was the only car in the 51 second range. He did win the pro class so all was not lost. Our data acquisition showed he could run in the 50 second range so the car is coming around. We will put new tires on for Pleasanton, lower the rear about .125" and change the fuel enrichment related to TPS speed because it had a lean stumble at 2400 RPM exiting a slow corner.
Here is a video of the losing run, he hit the green pylon on the right near the starting line on his second lap.

Awesome video!

You're always at Good Guys. Are the courses laid out according to a precise layout? Ie, are they precisely the same every time or do they vary? Do you get practice runs?

Hi Tony
Courses are similar but almost always a little different they have slowed them down lately though because of safety concerns. One thing I like at Goodguys you get a bunch of runs, great for tuning. We used 16 gallons of VP 114 over two days.
At SCCA events like Nationals you get 3 runs per day, they have a practice course but surface conditions are so different you don't tune on it.

The people at Goodguys events all love cars so you get to meet lots of serious car people during the week end.
We will probably enter the car in the SCCA national championships this year in CAMS. We run against Corvettes up to C6 there and have to add weight up to 2500 lbs because of all the complaints from Corvette people. We also run Porsche and Lotus club events to tune the car but Goodguys are my favorite events.
CompClassics and 1795 like this.

Nice run and video. You can't win them all, but doing well at each event is a definite possibility. Good luck as you move forward with this race season.

Hey, if you don't hit a cone now and then you probably aren't going fast enough.
