Le Mans Gas cap well
I know Double Venom used to have a retrofit well for the CR Cobra. He has not been on here for some time. And I had left a message for him some time back (concerned about him) without a response.
Does anyone have a source for the fiberglass recess? I don't like just sticking the cap on the deck or perched on the top of the fender.

Why not just place it on top of the gas station pump? Less sightly and a whole lot easier.

LOL! In my senior moments, that is likely.

I just stick my inner gas cap in my pocket while I am filling up. That way, if I forget to put it back on, I won’t leave it behind!

Sorry, I guess I did not clearly explain what I am trying to do. The CR does not have the recessed well in the body (as pictured) in the fender. Classic Roadsters suggested just mounting the gas cap through the rear deck behind the seats/cockpit. Or mount it at the top edge of the fender. Most of the 427 replicas have a recess in the fender for the Le Mans cap system to mount as pictured in my first post. It would be mounted like the 289 FIA below.

Did you find a source for the fiberglass recessed gas cap well ?
I need one for my cap too.
Thanks,
Jim

No, I did not. I think Double Venom was the only one that was manufacturing one. I figured I would attempt it myself. Winter and the Holidays has kind of stalled any progress on the car the last couple of months.

We used to have a body man here that did fiberglass work and he made a few for some people that wanted them. Unfortunately he is not in business any more or I would ask him about any sources he may know of.

Mine has the cap in the trunk on top of the fuel cell. It has a tether so I cannot forget it but I can leave it lying beside the filler and so smell fumes afterward.

Go with Bruce. He can do anything.
Incidentally, if you're reading this Bruce, mine is the FIA body that you sent to Australia back in early 2015
Cheers,
Glen

Here's a link to show how I got the Lemans cap installed with my limited skills:
