				Identifying 9" origin,  without build tag?
			 
			 
			
		
		
		
		Any Ford 9" experts? Looking to identify the rear in my Cobra without a build tag. It's a disc brake rear, with some of these numbers cast into the center section. 817.7 34 8ZC 34, and D2AW-F is stamped into it. Any ideas what it's from. It has 2 dimples on the rear housing, and may have been narrowed. It's a 28 spline , big bearing.

 Mine is not an 'N' case and it's plenty suitable for my usage. Also 'only' 28 splines. Again, plenty suitable. If I was drag racing or running a 5,000 pound truck things might be different, but I'm quite okay with my non-nodular case.

		Sounds like it's been built up from various parts. There are no rear disc rear ends that have the two dimple back cover. All the factory rear disc 9" rears have the big tapered center stampings with the humped cover. Versailles and full sized. 		Also if it is the Lincoln type.   Throw those garbage Lincoln calipers as far as possible get the kit from performance unlimited and enjoy actual braking.
