I just spent my wad for this year. only because I was to supposed to take money out of my retirement or pay a fine. Then the stimulus thing came along and I didn't have to this year. Money is already spent. It looks so good now I do not want to get it dirty.

I have only owned my Cobra since April.. have put 1100miles on it in 3months...
In NC the Temps are 90-100F right now so my experience has been pretty good. - I tuned the 770cfm Holley on the 351W (427SR Roush) such that at ~85C(185F) the idle is set at ~925rpm ... then with the temp is ~100C (212F) .. the idle drops to about 800-825rpm .. it sounds a little rough but it is stable and will run for a while even in stop and go traffic. It took a little tweaking as my 770cfm Holley was originally set a little too rick and I had to lean it out slightly... One thing I do is turn my fans on manually at 90C (194F) rather than let them automatically kick on at 100C.. this also helps reduce the heat buildup so quickly. Sunburn and Wind Burn is what I consider a Merit Badge for owning a Cobra! Love it and wear the Merit Badge proudly! Anyway .. that's my current experience as a newbie Cobra owner. |
I took her out for an hour long drive this past Sunday, with temps approaching 100 degrees and humidity so thick you could cut it with a knife. By the time I pulled back in to the garage I was worn out, dehydrated, had a momentary lack of concentration while getting out of the car, and put my left ankle right on the pipes. First good burn I've had in maybe five years. But that's what happens when you take your eye off the ball.:(

Some of the high temps that I'm seeing here would be welcomed in Vermont especially late summer and early fall. Very shortly I'll be using the heater in my Slabside.

This past weekend it was in the low 90's with high humidity and when I race I have to wear a three layer fire resistant suit, complete with gloves and helmet. By the time the session is over I am dehydrated, tired and attention is somewhat diminished. I have had calf cramps while on the track as well. When I had my ERA I had a momentary lapse of concentration as I ws in a hurry to move the car after brining it back home for a drive and touched my calf to the side pipes. I agree with what Patrickt said. I took one of mine for a short drive the other day. The temperature on the thermometer was 117 degrees and the heat index pushed that up to 119/121 degrees. By the time I got home I almost had to just fall out of the car and it took what seemed like two gallons of water and the rest of the day for me to really start feeling very well.

Scott, Karl, Keith, and I went out last Sunday. Started early headed up to 7000',actually got a little chill, and then came back to Phoenix. The last hour was about 100° and humid (for Phoenix). I'll be honest, the last hour wasn't pleasant. However, the first three made up for it. If you want to drive, you do what you can to make it work.
