I'll add to that....with a question. Preface: I am familiar - quite literally - with every last nut and bolt on my car, and of course every bill. I have hundreds of hours (actually, much more) invested in its build; I’ve had endless skinned knuckles, sore back, sore knees, yada, yada .... so how many drivers of cars in these videos built their own cars….and then drive in such a stupid manner? Glen, I would venture to say not many (in this video), most are more then likely the second owner. I would say the first owner that (ALSO) put their (Blood, Sweat, & Tears) into their Babies, sold them "Hoping" they go to the next owner that would treat them like they have done, only to have this happen to their cars. Only in this day & age can you "BUY CLASS" :) Something is just wrong with that picture. Again that's only my $.03 Cheers Glen ,TommyRot. P.S. Glen, just had to add this. I couldn't download the best pics of the carnage. It literally destroyed the pressure plate, it was all twisted up and snapped the bolts off clean. The inside of blow proof bell looked like someone went nuts with a cut-off wheel, it's wasted. It broke the nose off the starter, there were pieces of twisted springs hanging out the clutch fork hole. It bent the crank.
The motor is at the shop now, they're going over the block now, but I believe it's still good. I'm gonna rebuild it. But yeah, I though the world was coming to an end for a few seconds and saw dust and small pieces of metal bouncing in the rear view mirror. Don't do this sh!t at home. |

Sort of brings the theory that - these light cars are so traction limited that they can't do much driveline damage - into doubt. Glad the flywheel stayed solid as that could have spread the damage much further.

That's what 427 Side Oiler's can do. That's scary stuff :eek: Glad you had a scatter shield, one of the first thing I added to the 427. Mine is a Holman & Moody block (Date Coded 1965), with a LeMans Crank, and Rods. My engine builder say's good to 7000, now I'm not so sure %/ We can fix broken, easier than heal.
