Tach

What is the difference between tach input or tach output? Does both of them wire to the signal on the back of the tach. I am so confused .

Tach input = the signal coming into the tach from the tach signal generator. This signal provides the tach to put a reading on the tach.

Tach output = the signal sent from the tach to another device. Could be used for a rev limiter, shift light or something else that requires a tach signal to operated
