The 289 is very well balanced. In the British tradition, a joy to drive on twisty roads.

But it makes it more exciting to know that with a 427 you're only a toe-push away from spinning the car in to the trees at any given moment.

Certainly, as well as breaking the rear tires loose at 100mph when shifting into 4th. 289 and big block Cobras are both good. As noted earlier beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
