Default An original AC Ace and two original CSX cars

Had the privilege of visiting a local car collectors garage recently. I put a couple of photo's of an original AC Ace and 2 Cobra's that were part of the collection in my photo album.

Is the big block a 427 or 428? Never seen that badge on the side of a 289 before. The Rotunda Tach is very cool and it looks like a Galaxie clock. Is the Ace, AC powered or Bristol? While researching the COB and COX AC Cobras, I stumbled back onto the Bristol powered Ace's. I had forgotten how they won SCCA championships, five years in a row, and that was with the SCCA bumping them up several classes, tell they were racing with the big boys, Jags and Maserati's! A couple of the championships were taken by USAF officers, with enlisted crews. The Air Force actually encouraged racing! The most famous team was the Allard, headed by General Curtis (Bombs Away) LeMay. He literally saved the SCCA. Oh and a PS, I am a dark jade green with envy!

The white car is CSX2171. The clock is not original.

Yes, a lot of small block cars had their Lucas clocks replaced with 1962 Galaxie clocks. Not sure why, but I like the look. I have one with the chrome bezel, and it works, not the quartz replacement, plus, I have a Rotunda tach!

The clock currently in CSX2171 isn’t from a Ford Galaxie. I’m not sure what it’s from. The face is different as is the bezel. The clock supplied by Ford as used in production Cobras CSX2201+ is similar to the 1962 Ford Galaxie unit but the bezel is chrome in the Cobra but not in the Galaxie as no part of the bezel is exposed in the Galaxie.
It’s was somewhat common to replace the Smiths clock equipped Cobras in the states with something that would fit once the clock ceased to work. Correct Smiths clocks were harder to find here and expensive to order.

Now that I was able to blow up you photo, I am not sure what clock that is? As for the Galaxie clock, Fords part number was C2AZ-15000-A and Shelby's was S1CS-15000-A. Same clock except for the chrome bezel.
