They are going to have to do something about these self-combusting electric cars before I would ever park one in my garage. Sure they claim insurance fire claims are no worse than gas cars but most gas car fires don’t self-actuate in your unoccupied cars and garages. And the statisticians will admit that the field of electric cars and data on them is so small as compared to ICE cars that insurance claim figures can’t be relied on. And someone pointed out that with ICE cars you can at least shop around for the lowest gas price. Try that with PG&E. Gas prices at least respond up and down (more slowly) reasonably fast to supply and oil prices. With electric rates they will be set and and only changed through long regulatory negotiations. And how many times have you seen an electric utility rate decrease.
