Default NOS 1989 Bennett Cobra Kit for Sale in Washington State

Don't know much about these, but cruising though CL this morning, I found this Bennett Kt. If anyone is interested, I could put eyes on it, looks like another (Red) Cobra in the background. I would say reach out to the people there first, then I'll go look it over if need be. Who needs another Project Cheers Tom. https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/7549752212.html

Looks like a very well done body. I'm betting it's plenty heavy with the integral tub and stuff. Scotty bought a Shell Valley kit last year that was very similar and it took 6 of us to lift the body onto the frame. Very impressive.

Always loved their body layout, crisp, clean lines.

This is an interesting find after so many years. As stated in the ad, this was a late 80's kit from Paul Bennett in Hayward, CA. I purchased my Bennett in the early 90's and Paul was switching over to the full round tube space frame design. It has custom stainless steel control arms (front & rear) with a Ford 9" IRS with inboard disc brakes.

I actually remember one or two of these older style frames in his shop for sale but everyone wanted the space frame version. At the time Paul had more orders for the new design than he could handle and fabrication really got backed up. Paul was a great guy with a wealth of Cobra knowledge from the Arntz days.

Going on 30 yrs of ownership with my Bennett Cobra, the longest I have ever owned a car!

Default Brent's Secret Cobra

Ok Guys the Cats out the bag!!! Come to find out (I thought Brent "EM-0785" & I had no secrets between us ) Brent owns this here Bennett. It was supposed to be a surprise, with a group of us deciding what to build this into. But, as Brent will tell you, other Project's has jumped in front of this one. If it's sells ok, if not that fine too. Maybe the rest of the club can add their $.02 in. We talked about building one KILLER just barely street legal /Auto-x Cobra. What are everyone else's thoughts??? Go wild, boys Cheers Tom.

Isn't the Bennett just an Arntz/Butler? It is almost identical even down to the MGB front suspension it originally had. The body/frame look the same and has a Jag IRS.

Tom, it doesn’t surprise me that you sniffed this out, and as you know, if we were to build it you’d be among the first to know!

Initial planning (and/or if I do build it) is to fill in the exhaust cutouts (there are already no side vent cutouts) do undercar exhaust, no scoop, possibly a removable roll bar with body cutout covers, a solid likely dark color (no stripes), as big of wheels as could be tucked under with a dropped ride height and given the undercar exhaust design we’d create.

A beautifully elegant and clean street styled car with legit autocross capabilities for added enjoyment. That could include selling the existing front suspension/steering and revising to our specs, although it is a nice setup in its own right. Power likely from a potent small block engine configuration with efi stack type induction. Some custom chassis work is likely in our planning. Some other unique creations to make it our own.

Purpose built, as a dual-purpose car! All vintage, and relatively unique and different, adding to the creative challenge and enjoyment for me. If we were to decide to do a full autocross only car, we have some special chassis, suspension and engine considerations, but I’m not going there just yet! However, given the beauty of the clean lines at hand, I think a solid street car ‘plus’ would be a very viable outcome here.

Thanks, Brent
