Looks great, are you planning one color, or are there going to be stripes to spoil the lines :D .

Just straight and clean

Hi,
No stripes, no side pipes, no side vents, no hood scoop. Going for the classic European look.
Perry.

Yet, twin rollbars :JEKYLHYDE
Or will there be color keyed plugs for one side or both for now?

HighPlainsDrifter 04-16-2023 11:02 AM

safety

Hi,
Not much protection in a cobra so rollbars help a bit. The Mrs wants them.

Looks amazing.

Beautiful color! Look forward to seeing it all together.

That is a beautiful color. I agonized over the roll bar question and did a lot of reading. Statistically, roll overs are pretty rare and getting rear ended is much more common. With the low back seats the presence or absence of a roll bar just leads to a different injury. If the wife wants them then they’re well worth it for that reason alone. I was fortunate that all my wife wanted was heated seats. :) Good luck with the rest of the build.

Perry, are you coming to the Vintage races July 1 @ Pacific raceways?? You seem to get your Cobras built faster than the rest of us ;) By the way great color too, Cheers Tom.

Sound reasoning. Roll bars that are in range of your cranium are far more likely to do you in with blunt force trauma in a regular traffic mishap than to protect you (and yours) in a rollover. I do love the OP's paint color though - the car should look stunning.

Sounds like you have a great combo going on! As I have stated many times here, a lot of the race drivers said they enjoyed the AC289 Sport the best for just driving hard for fun. I have semi converted a few of my British car friends who hate the S/Cs, by showing them 427-428 street cars and AC289 Sports all clean, they usually say, "now that looks more like a proper British car! If my small block MKII does not pan out, then one of the above cars will do just fine! Cheers, Dennis P.S. I just got a line on a AC Bristol powered Ace, I am going to call on it tomorrow. Part of me hopes I can afford it, part of me hopes I can't, if you know what I mean.

engine break in

I got the Mrs to step on the gas and look at oil pressure gauge while we ran the engine at 2200 rpm for 25 minutes:)
Set the timing and added trans fluid.
No leaks!
