low hood clearance dual four need a solution

I have an older 427 with inline dual four carbs. I have less than 1 1/2" above the carb to hood. I found that the car runs so much better with out the modified S&H air cleaners. I'm looking for some ideas. I live in Washington state and it does rain here and have been caught out in it. I have been considering another hood without the SC scoop that is more nostalgic than fictional. I'm not going for land speed record but?
