Some of the comments are just priceless -

" Legendary collectors like Lynn Park have plenty of Kirkham’s in the garage. Real Cobra people don’t spend much time arguing about replicas and kit cars."

"regardless of the quality of the Kirkham and Superformance aluminum cars, to me those are simply replicas, and the AC Mk IV is actually the only legitimate “continuation” of the original Cobras- combining the body and chassis of the 427 Cobra with a more practical and usable small block motor. If anything, these cars seem undervalued."

" While Kirkham makes beautiful Cobras out of aluminum (inclusive of the Shelby branded aluminum cars), they are replicas. The AC Mk. IV is the real deal"

" If a new CSX or Kirkham is in the $300K-350K range…and revisions to a Mark IV would be in the $50K to $75K max, a Mark IV, with its provenace, before revisions/engine should theoretically be in the $200K+ range"

~those nasty Kirkhams......LOLOLOL!!!!

Just a note for clarification the next time a 20 year old thread gets revived

Superformance does not offer Aluminum cars of their own manufacturer, they are sourced from Kirkham for Shelby products only, not SPF.

I agree with every thing you said! One little correction, the MVIV cars were continuation of the AC289 Sport, COB COX cars. The C stands for Cobra, not Carrol, or Carol, as spelled in the AC ledger. Although, none left the Thames Ditton plant with the snake badges, though a few received them by their owners. I have written here several times, talking to a few owners in the UK, and they have nothing but praise for the handling of the AC289 cars, and I would imagine, the same would aply to the MKIV cars! Cheers, Dennis

What? That it didn't meet reserve over 131K or that it got to 131K at all (my opinion).

That anyone would bid that kind of money for THAT car. O M G 😲

We all have our passion
As it stands I think its low.
Alloy body, real AC.... Hmmm

Its low, its a car for the era and thats it. When glass cars with bolt on wheels are hitting 150+ its hard to argue an alloy car should be less. At least to rational thinkers.

Yes, perhaps if it just didn't look like crap....

Hmmmm :(
I guess you didnt bid then?
Funny I only get compliments for mine, must be liars in the crowd. :p
I guess its saves on my embarrassment of ownership.
Should just leave it in the garage so as to not offend people .......

Patrick,
Just wondering - how many comments, over many years, have been favorable about the colour of your car?

Cheers!
Glen

When viewed in person, the color has been universally deemed to be the most beautiful shade to ever grace a Cobra.

Too bad the discussion turned angry, but we do have such passion for these cars. Never seen one of these Autocraft cobras in person, and I've been around a long time and traveled far and wide. My guess is there are very few in North America, these qualify as the sad sisters of the cobra world. Very unattractive cars IMHO

Just three questions

1: You miss Evan, don't you ;)
2: When did you realize you were colorblind
3: You really do miss Evan, don't you :D

I think you nailed it, most have not even seen one, let alone driven one of the ~155 units imported to the USA. I am partial however they carry better lines than most of the compared to cars. Different slightly yes, mostly to keep them DOT compliant. When at a show its never a negative as most see it as an alloy Cobra.

Good eye.

I can attest, I have seen Jeff's car in person. The lines are beautiful and the green is stunningly British.

And with each car in Jeff's collection, the details are meticulous.

Many thanks
I try

Harpoon PV2 09-19-2023 11:02 PM

This reminds me of one of the old racers when asked if he would drive his car, if the sponsor painted it pink, he replied, "as long as it was fast, he didn't give a *^#! what color it was!" Get rid of the head rest, and it would look a lot better! I have never heard an owner of a MKIV say they hate driving their car. Cheers, Dennis

I was about to add my thoughts as a UK-person who has seen (and admired) countless MkIVs, but the Valium is kicking in....
